I can't believe that people have complained about the height of the ceiling in the bar of this pub-it's 800 years old-people were a lot shorter then!
Landlord lacks a publican's charisma/bonhomie,but the beer is well kept-both Greene King IPA and London's Glory-presumably a post Olympics brew.
Food offer-two main courses for �12.00 on weekdays from a truncated menu seems remarkably cheap.
Well worth a visit.

Visited for the first time on Friday.
Pub is lovely to look at from the outside, and has a nice seating area to the front/side and a large grass garden (popular with some kids and their football) at back. Inside it was very busy and cramped, although I thought the short bar quite quaint.
Beer was OK, and the smell of curry from the kitchen was divine (evening meals were all priced at �10, so not cheap). Both staff (a lady and a gent) seemed rather sour, however. I certainly didn't feel at all welcomed, and am not sure I'll try it again.

An extremely pleasant pub (thatched roof, exposed beam interior), efficiently run by a family who are popular with locals (they are packed with punters almost every lunchtime) and run a very able kitchen. In particular I'm hooked on their daily curry; I shall have to try something else one of these days. Impressive wine list too. Best place in the 2 mile radius.

How wrong can you get the most basic food? I thought it was safe to order pie, chips and peas. The pie was cooked on top but stone cold in the middle - probably frozen, grilled on top and only just thawed out. Really horrible. I thought the guy next to me did better with fish and chips but that was also cooked badly from frozen. No one in my party of 8 had a good food experience. If anyone from the Harrow reads this then you seriously need to sort out the kitchen because you'll keep losing business.
The pub itself has the potential to be pretty but is badly furnished with 80's curtains, cheap burger joint furniture and tacky plastic flowers arranged to within an inch of their life.
The staff were pleasant.

staff were very rude when I had to ask for another glass as I had a crack in it. I will never go back there.

Nothing actally wrong with this place but both the bar and the garden could do with some TLC

Excellent food and very friendly service, I used to work near this place for BUPA and this place used to be our favourite choice for a quicky at the lunch time!
I have seen other people commenting on the poor lady, once you get to know her she is very entertaining... Bascially this place is run by Indians hence very nice currys if you fancy.

Agree with trainman (again) not quite what it appears. More food orientated than a proper pub. Shame really.

Being a bit on the tall side means I always have to watch my step in the Harrow, and have actually knocked myself out walking in (sober) because the door frame is so low. Apart from this, the Harrow is lovely pub and has a real charm about it. The garden is a fair size and always seems to have a fair selection of punters in it when the weather is nice. Recommended

I don't think it quite delivers what it promises on the tin. The facade is a lovely thatched country inn but the bar area is more cramped than expected and the table layout suggests that diners hold priority over drinkers. I waited, alone at the bar, for a few minutes before someone arrived to pull me a pint of OSH (which was fine), the other 2 pumps were Abbot & IPA. The look of the bar area is old timber & beams, these sit a little incongruously with the strong smell of curry as you enter. The aroma, however, made me recognise my hunger and led me to find the indian menu displayed on a wall but, having chosen a couple of tasty-sounding appetisers, I was told that this was the evening-only menu. The lunch menu on the chalkboard was varied and good value (�5-�8) but too different from my initial choice to be of interest. A loud telephone was left ringing unattended behind the empty bar & this drove me back outside to the decent garden area with tables and natural tree shade. Could have been better, but now a GK pub and no more than 6/10 in my book.

Went in here for the first time in years and enjoyed the experience. Service seems to vary, if you get the guy he is incredibly friendly, if you get the girl she is very sour faced.
However, as a summer traditional pub this is excellent, although it suffers from being in the Oasis that is Charlton Village.

I regularly go to this pub for a lunchtime pint. It is basically a decent honest old-fashioned pub. Low ceiling, thatched roof, gents in an outhouse. The cask beer is always perfectly kept, I've had the best pints of Abbott here in many a year. prices are reasonable for this neck of the woods. Food is excellent value and never disappointing.

A lovely old thatched cottage, with the interior retaining a few of the old fittings. Sadly the furniture looks like it's come water-damaged from the Pheonix Club, which spoils the atmosphere somewhat.
Don't neccessarily expect rural-style ambience either - the footy was on during my visit on Sunday.
Beer is Greed King, the Abbot I had was in very good condition - I think this place is being overlooked by the local CAMRA branch.
Would definately recommend a visit.

LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! what a lovely place. Small and personal and the staff let you into there family too. How fantastic are the dogs? they are just sooo cute and the parrot...musn't forget the parrot!! Love this place will come again

The 'Squire' reliably tells me the 'Harrow' is in fact THE oldest pub in Surrey! Well it certainly is one of the most picturesque. It should be surrounded by green fields & rolling hills with sheep.. (and horses, and maybe a reservoir.. and a bridge, over a busy motorway..)!! TJ

A lovely thatched cottage of a pub! With VERY low beams and lintels.. so watch your head!!
A bit dimly lit inside, small & over smokey. But the chicken tikka +nam was good (�5) especially with a pint of Abbots ale. Venture outside and there's a spacious beer garden to the side, ideal on a sunny afternoon. Small car park for a dozen+ or so cars, opposite the pub. The only buses that come this way are the 400 (that runs at such peculiar times) or the 574, the stop is a short walk away. TJ

A lovely little pub. It is very friendly, and a nice place to eat. The CURRY's are very nice and excellent value. We like and enjoy our local. Nice place to go.

The only pub in Charlton village, the Harrow is a charming pub, with a thatched roof. Pokey inside, hence is better as a summer pub, when it can be quite pleasant sat outside, with the chickens roaming about..
