Had a wonderful pint of Thwaites bitter here. Sat outside on a very sunny teatime. Pub is small inside, although they appear to have a nice area to eat upstairs. Would love to go back

Initialy not sure about this place. Had the studded chavs at the bar who are genetically programmed to reject anything in a glass that is not lager, the over-made up older females with the wine and sodas, and the old beardy guys giving their chunky knit x-mas jerseys and airing, while smelling of leafy pipe tobacco with the real ales. Still, for a busy Friday afternoon, it was a cheery mix. The pint of Bomber that I had was exceptional. And the barmaid was very pleasant indeed.

Nice pint, decent grub, not expensive. We'd definitely go here again.

There should be day and night shifts of people outside this pub, marching with placards warning those who go in.

and on the other side

Dunno what the food is like but when they charge 2.80!!!for a pint of cloudy vinegar and expect you to wipe your arse with your bare hands I wasn't staying to find out.

This pub is on the Market Place in the centre of Kendal. It serves Thwaites Original and Lancaster Bomber and, because of the latter, is worth popping in for a beer especially if one sits upstairs looking out of a window. (Downstairs can be quite smokey.) On a Saturday lunchtime it is often quite full (with people eating what looks to be reasonable functional and fairly cheap food) but is emptier by about 3pm.

full of chavs downstairs, but we went for food upstairs... beer not bad, food alright especially as we went at the end of the lunch service... service was warm and friendly

didn't seem to be much of the way of competition in that town centre
