nice pub that had a renovation a few years ago (original features removed to be replaced with "olde" to make it more "authentic"), has anyone ever known this to work, EVER.

Having said that it is a friendly pleaseant pub serving well kept Brains beers and good pub food.

Excellent Bass, and lovely pub.

Probably the nicest pub in Abergavenny, in terms of historical interest. Lots of little nooks and crannies to explore. We had one room to ourselves on a Saturday night. Although some of the rooms were quite busy. However the only real ales on offer were Brains SA Gold, Reverend James and Draught Bass.

Choice of four ales and very good value food in this multi-room pub. Quite busy but quick service at the bar and also when the food was delivered.

Easily the best pub in Abergavenny. This is not saying a lot, but a great atmosphere and very friendly. The Brains beers are average, but the pub is the place to be.

Since the smoking ban this place is like a ghost ship - it used to be a decent boozer, but add to the mix a subtle hint of 'Brains brewery' and it has become or remains decidedly average.

Next to no atmoshpere and most of the true locals seem to have done a runner elsewhere.

This pub will struggle in the winter months as there is no where to have a ciggy other than stand in the street.

It will be interesting to see what happens to this place.

My gut feeling is that most of the punters (that smoke) will chip off elsewhere to the pubs that have newly plastic roof covered beer gardens.

Shame but...

we went there to see a jazz band on a pleasant sunday and we were happy to find a lovely, busy pub with helpful staff.........but we were sorely let down by filthy glasses, and not just one, all of them
tis a pity because thats whats stuck in my head now, but really it has a lot going for it
besides the dirty glasses, the beer was good.....especially the brains sa
