DONT BOOK ANY EVENT THERE!!!
I had booked an xmas do for 20 people all confirmed arranged etc via telephone and e-mail. They had booked us for the wrong night. They ONLY called me to tell me at 1:30pm THAT day!!! they did not even apologise. NOT IMPRESSED!!!

I certainly won't use them again and wouldn't want you to go through what I did to find a another venue within 4hours.

This place could be good - but the bar staff are the worst I have ever encountered, first time myself and a friend nearly walked out after waiting 20 minutes to be served whilst the staff served people who clearly had come after us, and we saw this constantly all night with other people, the staff dont give a damn about serving order, which is the basic requisite of being a barman. I was one and its not difficult. 2nd time I went, I did walk out after again waiting an age to be served, gave up, went back to the bar later and both bar staff had disappeared, leaving customers hanging.

I will never go here again the staff are a disgrace and need some serious training.

Went to Digress-City on a Friday night to celebrate my 30th birthday. Cocktails are nice especially during happy hour. Bouncers were also friendly which makes a change. There are 2 rooms of music ... the main room plays what what you here in every other bar/club which is the same old R&B crap. But really enjoyed the club room which plays 70's & 80's party tunes that bring back loads of memories. Had a great time & will definatley return.

crappy commercial shithole, got chatted up by some essex girls. only thing close to ale was leffe blonde at 3.90 a bottle,... heres the best bit, house rules state that the bar staff must pour the beers into glasses, fair enough. House rules also state that on Friday nights they have to use plastic cups... end result, 3.90 for 2 thirds of a pint of leffe. avoid at all costs.

Full of 17 year old, blazin squad rejects who commute in from Essex on a Friday evening after finishing up in the garage where they are doing their GNVQ in mechanics to pretend they 'work in the city'.

Avoid at all costs.

I occasionally go due to the lack of choice in the area. At least there is some cheap food but the place is basically rubbish and it'll take you an age to get served even when its practically empty

Strangely enough I am well positioned to comment on this place, having gone downstairs for one drink here at lunchtime for a colleague's birthday.

Its a chavvy shitehole. Don't be fooled - unless you commute in from Romford - then you might just love it.

Place is good, if you like a drink and the company your with it's a very handsome place with several rooms to disappear into. It's not stuck up it's own arse at all, it's a very down to earth place.

This place plays good music till about 8pm, then all the mongs come in and it goes wrong..... Still, expensive drinks, overcrowded dance floors and bad staff, what more could you want from a night in the city?!!
drunkmarv - 8 Sep 2005 16:56
Oh God! This was the straw that broke the camel's back. Work nights out at these poncey sh*tholes used to be just about bearable, but this place is so bad I have now sworn a solemn oath never to go to places where they give you your change on a metal tray or where you have to pay for a p1ss. Spent 25 on gnat's p1ss Long Island Ice Tea - trying to get drunk enough to forget where I was. Eventually gave up and led a renegade group to The Bull on Devonshire Row. Roughly 1000% more fun.

10/10 for comedy value. The clientele is something only found in anthropological text books.
Herad this place described as "a nightclub for those with low taste and get up early".
Dress with "elizabeth duke bling" and home highlighted hair.
Is cheap in happy hour.
Upmarket alternative is Sosho up the road.

It's good at lunchtime - lunch for 4 not to be sniffed at! Cheap and cheerful also in the evenings if you go for Happy Hour.

If you're a prick in a suit in your first job since graduating from the Stepney cockle market this is for you. If you are a normal member of the numan race you would have more fun frying your own genitals. Full of Essex/East London brain donors.
oldludensian - 11 Feb 2005 15:08
Oh god, it's bad. I was forced to go there for some work thing - and all my worst fears were confirmed. Full of drunken idiots spraying each other with bottled lager. No real beer. Crap music. Arrogant staff. GO AWAY.
MrLash - 20 Jan 2005 17:03
Don't get me started. Avoid if you don't like essex, lager and crowded places.
Spel_Unca - 22 Dec 2004 16:32
Only been here once - very slow service, but the barman's cocktail knowledge was slightly above average. The seats are comfortable and it gets heaving with chicks.
Simon - 2 Jul 2004 13:30
I go to digress when ever I can. The happy hour is until 7 and its a great time to try out cocktails as they are so cheep.
It is the perfect place to go with a couple of mates, but get there early if u want a seat because it does get busy.
I love it here and would definitely recommend it.

AVOID THIS PLACE !
Despite our party arriving ahead of time, we were told to wait 20 minutes. Then we were told wait another 30 mins, despite it being quite clear that no tables would be free. Looking at their plan it is obvious that if a larger party arrives/books after you they will dump you whilst continuing to lie to you. We cancelled & left.
The Bar is hopelessly understaffed. We waited 20 mins to be served, whilst they uncorked wine bottles.
Our rating would be 1 = very poor.

The service for the staff xmas party was very poor. Starter and dinner was served over 2 hours, with some from the party eating up to an hour before others!Vegetable were not served for some people and the staff (once they realised they would not be getting a tip) were rude.

Great place for a get together especially an after work birthday bash. Atmosphere great, music loud and plenty of stuffed shirts to laugh about. Come on guys, lighten up !!

i think this pub is excellent for talent and atmosphere, and the dancing part is also good

Full of city types but strangely the aura is quite cheesey! It's actually really good fun and for all you bargin hunters if you get their early it's got a great happy hour!
Tx - 5 Jun 2003 13:56
Bar, restaurant and 'lounge'. Plenty of space, and well located beneath City Point. A touch of class about the place, most likely to attract the buisness lunchers and suited city types in the evening. Shame really as it is very cool.
