please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This was the first pub on a midweek trip to Bury. A word of warning though, the footpath from the bus route on Brandlesholme Road is like a mudbath at this time of year. But it does have nice views over the Irwell. The Brown Cow, situated in a country park feels a million miles away from the centre of Bury. It was almost 2 o'clock when I arrived. But there were still a few in finishing their lunches. 3 ales were on - Wells Bombardier Burning Gold, Elland Blonde & Cottage EPA. I had the Elland, which was ok. But all of the ales were a similar style and not exactly my cup of tea. The interior is fairly cosy and I can imagine this is a lovely spot in the summer. It wasn't too bad in the mid winter either. Fairly close to the East Lancs. Railway.

Lovely place to be if the sun's out, can be full of children though so beware if you like a quiet spot! Food is good especially the mixed grill (although think the chef is scared about cooking the steak rare!) even comes with liver if you like that sort of thing. A good couple of real ales on too and a nice area to sit inside when the sun goes down!

Visited a few times while staying on the caravan site last week, and had a couple of Bank Top beers. These were changed to a couple of Moorhouses beers during the week we were there. No problems with beer or food.

This pub is set in a lovely location in the middle of a country park.Quite family orientated in the daytime (ie loads of kids running about) so i went down after 8pm on my second visit and it was much more relaxed.Limited beer choice and a little pricey but dont let this put you off its still well worth a trip down.

GREAT IF TAKING A STROLL OR HIKE THROUGH THE BURRS COUNTY PARK-OR HAVING A PIC-NIC (OR BBQ IN THE SUMMER) AND FANCY A QUICK PINT/OR LEISURLY ONE. GOOD LINES/COLD GOOD TASTING PINTS. FAMILY FREINDLY WITH THE LARGE BEER GARDENS AND SMALL PARK FOR THE KIDS. NEXT TO COWS AND THE STEAM TRAINS THAT GO PAST EVERY HOUR OR SO. FOOD NOT BAD EITHER/REASONABLY PRICED. Great little pub, with HUGE beer garden in the middle of the Burrs County Park. Cracking ice cold pints on offer. Great lines-clean,crisp taste. Loads of tables and seating to the rear, side and front of the pub, surrounded by gorgeous country scenery. (Large rivers, and waterfall only a short distance away, plus vast amounts of grassy areas, ideal for bbq and picnics in the Summer.) Situated next to the Burrs activity and adventure centre. If you get the chance Give this pub a go. Fantastic little country pub, right in the heart of Bury! Nearby pubs for a leisure crawl inc...The Cricketers' Inn (Walmersley Road,Bury) The Towler (Walmersley road), The Sundial (Also Walmersley Road) or the Garsdale...just a short walk away. Good Food, Great tasting beer, even better location...great for the entire family or just the adults.
