What has happened to this place??? It used to to be THE place to go in Exeter. Now it is a sad reminder of those days spent dancing the night away when I first used to come down this way. The loos were always pretty crap, so can't complain there. However, the choice of music and the Ibiza-type chavvy clientele leaves a lot to be desired. Pity it moved from across the way too.

Timepiece has character. Although it sells few ales, they are of good quality. Service at the bar is quick, friendly and efficient. Despite these excellent features, Timepiece's owners should be ashamed that the toilets are small, disgusting, smelly and unhygienic. Although Timepiece rakes in a substantial income, none of this is spent on toilet facilities, maintenance or cleaning. This is completely unacceptable. I have not seen worse in countless pubs, including backwater and foreign places.

Went last night (saturday), what a load of s*** this place is. I'm not a local and have never been here before, went here on recommendation. It was awful, dirty, smelly, rough, full of student chavs acting like drunk idiots and mind numbing dance 'music'. We only stayed as we'd paid to get in and didn't know where better to go! It's 5 and a few hours of my life I will NEVER get back!

A unique bar and club nowhere in the whole world is quite like this place.
Set over various level and a fair amount of outside seating this place just oozes so much character.
With memerbilia all over the place even gravestones outside and also plays a
good variety of music (non cheesy!)
Anyone that ever comes to Exeter (it is popular with students) must come here
It is lengenary in the city.
10/10

always has been and i guess always will be the best place in Exeter ... I owned and ran a pub in Exeter for 10 years (86 to 96) ... it was called Barts (Bartholomew Street West) ... and we were the two dogs b*****ks!!!

Great place, really enjoyed my brief stay. friendly staff and more than acceptable music playing in the background. agree with earlier comment re. general cleanliness/hygine situation..... there was a barage on the olfactory organs in certain corners of the bar reminiscent of decaying dog. But it didnt ruin the general good feeling you got from the place.

Good place, good drink at a good price....jsut a shame the place quite literally STINKS!!!
Something of a combination of wet dog and month-old laundry basket. And it wasn't just us picking up on it! Think if that had not been present, I'd have drank more of their excellent beers and ciders. Good vibe tho, and friendly people serving the drinks.

Always hugely popular, and really a club bar, Timepiece Bar has, amongst it's many charms as mentioned by others, the unique virtue of being the only place you can just walk into and get a drink after time has been called everywhere else in Exeter. You pay to get in the Club upstairs, but the Bar is basically a pub that opens until 1.30 in the morning. It makes you feel practically continental. Timepiece is an Exeter institution, and rightly so.

Timepiece is the best. How can a bar/club somewhere as yokel-filled as sexyter be so diverse and full of character? I'm not jut talking about the building with it's crazy crap on the walls and gravestones outside, This place has the best variety of nights, bank holidays is worldbeat with five rooms of different music from around the world, salsa night on thursdays, uni jocks night on wednesday and sometimes hosting ozzie nights when actual sand is bought in, you get drunk on those awful cheap alcopops and wake up with sand dunes in your bed still wearing your bikini. yes men too.

we just had so much fun here!, great atmosphere, lots of drinks comsumed and considering the popularity of the place it did not take too long to get served either.

its a great place and the only way to get in without a long wait (coz it is popular) is to know the doormen or the club manger/owner & the best is to know the dj & get him to sneek you a 'instant acess' stamp/card.

I used to go to university in Exeter and this place drove me mad.Well the bloody wait to get in did neway.Once inside I always had a great time though.Especially when a friend of mine discovered the 'VIP' entrance (via a wall and thick brambles).

Used to work here years ago (late 80's) and had a whale of a time!

Timepiece is the centre of my universe. Well it was until I moved to London four months ago. Excellent tunes (particularly on a Friday night), reasonable doormen, good crowd of fun seekers and all my mates go there. What more could you ask for? Still go back every chance I get.

There are not enough toilets but apart from that it is fine
