when I last went there over two months ago, the food was diabolical, the service was a disaster and they had run out of orange, and eggs the pub is on the road to serious disaster

We arrived on a busy saturday night and agreed to wait an hour . There where empty tables and when we were still waiting 1hr 10 mins later . We eventually got served starters arrived quickly then we had to wait nearly 40 mins for our main courses , when they arrived our veg, peas was burnt and the meal was luke warm. my partner complained and his plate was taken back ,returned with fresh veg on top of the burnt peas and floppy flat lettuce garnish .We did complain and got a refund but still felt sad that this restaurant had not improved from years ago ...still a chain of restaurants run by kids who do not have a clue about the catering industry. The basics of presentation /plates of food not apparant . Dissapointed!!

A large, seemingly recently refurbished pub on the A5209. The open fire was welcome today!
Two cask ales on - I had a couple of pints of the Thwaites Original, which was very good. Didn't try the Tim Taylors Landlord which was also on.
The food was well presented and had far more of a restaurant than bar food feel. Prices seemed a little more than some pub prices but not much.
Overall, in my opinion a handy and decent enough place although not special enough to warrant a special journey.

went here on saturday the place was empty our party was 11 adults and 1 child it took over 45 mins to receive the starter. After the starters had been cleared away, the first 4 main courses took another 25 minutes to arrive, after a ten minute wait another 4 main courses for our table arrive. The steak we ordered to be rare was well done . After another approx 7 mins 3 more main courses arrived. one of our party still had not received her fish cakes even though 2 of our party had ordered and received their fish cakes. All in all a disaster

Looks great after the refit. The staff are friendly the service is good and the food is okay, but I'm afraid for a lot of people it will be very expensive and the portions are small.I usually gauge off the price of a Fillet steak, the fillets here will set you back 18.50, which for me is overpriced. The car park here is usually full, which is why they extended it years ago,on Sunday it was nearly empty.

Looks very smart after the re-furb. The waiter/waitress service, limited menu and quality of the food all certainly give the impression of home cooked fayre.
Some very nice real ales as well, worth a vist if you are looking for something a cut above the usual pub grub
