No. The Jack o' Newbury used to be the Catherine Wheel, This place is now swallowed up by the entrance to the cinema.

Is this now the Jack O'Newbury ? If so it might as well still be closed. Went in as Mr.Blue Sky by ELO started blaring out - no one in sight. mr Blue Sky came and went, still like the Marie Celeste - not a soul to be seen.
Between pointless queues, extortionate prices and ghost pubs is this Newbury's effort to bring in some kind of prohibition ?

Now shut with repossession notices in the windows.

Went in the other day for a gin & tonic. They had no tonic. That about sums the place up. As far as I can see it relies on the business lunch trade to keep going.

The reason there are no decent pubs in Newbury is that anyone with any sense drinks in the country pubs outside the town leaving the town centre to chavs and general low life.

Excellent Food & well worth a visit. More of a restaurant than a bar - if you just want a drink then suggest go somewhere else!

Been there twice over the last four months..each time celebrating someone's birthday.....and each time someone in the party has got food poisoning....

Bloody awful place, the atmosphere of a cancer ward waiting room. The staff act like they are doing a stars in their eyes version of the muppets. The drinks are expensive and yes it is more of a restaurant than anything only without the good food. Not only that lunchtimes are filled with vodaclones and council workers which is more than reason enough to give it the widest berth. What is it with Newbury; the place seems incapable of supplying a half decent pub.

More of an eaterie than a bar, decorated in a "Hogsheady" type of way. Was OK, But not so happy at the barman saying there were no tables when a tumbleweed was clearly blowing through the venue.. Not good service methinks..
