This is a really nice local pub. Has a function room with good local bands, the service is quick and cheerful and if you're passing, I'd recommend it..

An excellent little pub! Fast, friendly service and a wide choice of real ales, the one of which I sampled being superb. A lick of paint would make it an even more pleasant place to be!

This pub is great and has become a free house within the past year or so. No brewery ties and therefore an excellent selection of beers and food at a very reasonable prices! Long established Landalord and Landlady. Well worth a visit!

First visit to this pub as it is in the 2010 Good Beer Guide and I was not disappointed with the real ale. 8 pumps - 3 with Landlord, a London Pride, a Green King IPA and Digfield March Hare that we chose to try. The other 2 were empty. Food menu looked good, and it must be more of an eatery than drinking pub as most of the tables seemed to be set up for meals complete with paper cloths and cutlery. The only "bar" tables were 2 in front of the bar that were occupied so we felt obliged to stand, even though most of the tables were empty. I would not have wanted to mess the table up.

If you want a proper pub, a friendly welcome, good beer, and sound but inexpensive food this city centre is must. The pub is no-frills with bare floorboards and the gents is a tad scruffy. But currently there is a large beer garden and occasional barbie and regular music at weekends and a mixed crowd. Never had a disappointing visit in the last few years.

Sorry to see the poor comment in 2004. All I can say is I have been to the Cherry tree in 2005 and 2006, No complaints so far, good selection of beer, very friendly staff. Nice boozer

poor quality real ale on last three visits, and a tad expensive compared to neighbouring outlets.
