Go there last night - order a pint. The guy charges me for two. When I point out his mistake - he bizarrely says - "I presumed you wanted one pint here and another in there" - gesturing to the food half of the pub. I retorted - "I asked for one pint - not two" - whereupon he reluctantly reimbursed me. Today I order. The woman behind the bar gives me my change - 70 pence under. I point out the mistake - she retorts - "That's what it says on the receipt". I stand my ground - so she opens the till and gives me a pound! I look at her in disbelief and give up. CHECK YOUR CHANGE WHEN YOU GO IN HERE!!!!!

Staff here are very friendly indeed. Had a real laugh with the barstaff and they actually returned my phone to me which I lost here so cant complain in this regard.

Beer selection excellent. Hacker-Pschorr on tap which was a pleasant surprise and what looked like a very respectable bottled selection too.

Just come in to have a reasonably priced drink served with a beaming smile. Nice old fashioned classic pub with a great range of foreign beers.

Thank God it is more expensive than a Spoons. Keeps the riff-raff out.

yes, we who work around borough will not go in here. rip -off, no hygiene, cheap/untrained staff etc.

Vile and dead pub.....

Good trick. Keep the price list in small print - on the wall behind the bar, unreadable.

Then charge almost 8 for a large vodka and splash.....

In the pub in London Bridge station (nearby), same drink - 3.45.

Illegal?

Delirium Tremens on draft (not cheap but hey...) and a bunch of Belgian beers in bottles including Boon Gueuze. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Nice!

Found this surprisingly good pub on the way from The Market Porter to The Royal Oak. Good range of guest ales. Oh, and oddly, peanuts served by the pint too.

Went in here to catch the football. Bar staff couldn't get the TV to work for one of the most eagerly anticipated football matches of the past 12 months. And apparently charges ridiculous prices as well. Avoid, dear me avoid.

An absolute must for Sunday Roast but just as good for value for money meals all week round. Really well priced for the high quality of food and a great casual atmosphere. Huge range of beers and ciders. Always good fun. Even outside seating in the evenings as well for us smokers. Its got it all. A definate favourite.

Much improved from the rather shabby late night drinking hole it used to be. Semi late licence still but none of the chavs that used to ruin it. Beer is passable (I've had better locally) but isn't cheap. By far the best option for a late drink in the area but don't expect anything special.

It's gone through a bit of a renovation recently, and I have to say the pub is much improved. There is now a better selection of beers (e.g. Budvar, and a range of real ales), and the menu seems to have been revamped. Recommend the burgers (which were trying to impersonate gourmet burger kitchen) - although I couldn't eat all mine there was so much!

went there on a friday night as has a late licence. band playing, disco, and very cheesy/tacky, but a good atmosphere and a laugh.

Went in there this weekend and it has really changed. 5 handpulls all on and a massive menu of beers from all over the world. They claim to have over 60. The food has changed too, I had a Chicken & Stilton pie, and it was excellent. A nice change. Cheers.

Just dreadful - three of the handpump clips were turned around, the Bombardier was off, and the Spitfire was on the turn. Clueless bar staff ("I've just been in the country for a week"). Many decent pubs nearby, so avoid...

A bit long and narrow, but otherwise all things to all men. Beer's good, friendly bar staff, decent atmosphere, big screens, pool table, good train links, drunk women turning up from who-knows-where at 11.30pm, and now live music on Saturday nights. LoudMouse, a well-known covers outfit from West London, are appearing. I caught up with the Subway Monkeys the other night and they weren't bad either. Ace bass player. Well worth a visit.

Terri, the new manager here has great plans for this place. She wants to drag it into the 21st century with a complete makeover. She has started putting on live bands at the weekends and this place will be really rocking!

check out Subway Monkeys when they are on....excellent covers band ..the place will be rocking !!!

Everything in the place was sticky as if rubbed down with a damp rag leaving the congealed beer behind. Bar staff were not especially friendly and the beer was warm and flat. Will not be visiting again.

If you have any Ozzy mates, take 'em to this place. A full-on young crowd, gets very racous at the weekend, sometimes a bit overbearing if you're an old git like me. Plenty of oppurtunity to get steaming and enjoy the atmosphere, especially if you sneak in the downstairs private bar. Enjoy.
cider_murray - 23 Jul 2005 23:28
For some reason I really like this place. Music gets really overbaring later on, and it gets jam packed ... but otherwise I've had some great nights out with mates in here.

Yara's favourite pub - always serving cheap booze and well worth a trip at any time of the day and night!

1 to enter this terrible hole, lame beer, lame music, and lame people if this is where you gotta go for a late night drink Bring in 24 hour opening times

Came across this pub by accident last night, whilst looking for a latenight boozer - and what a find. 1 to get in and it's open until 2am. Perfect for a few more pints without having to go to a club.

Pub attached to a youth hostel, with some dancing room at the back. Notwithstanding this, it is popular with locals of all ages as well as travelling aussies. Has Golden Tee, which is worth three points. Selection of beers mediocre. Door staff can be aggressive.
Matt - 12 Jan 2004 13:12
Open till about 1 in the morning most nights, sometimes later, and you don't need to pay to go in or be in before 11, so it's a good place to go to after a nicer pub (such as the George or the Globe) has chucked out.
