This is an excellent pub and a friendly local. The beer is good and the staff are efficient. The beer is worth the extra few bob extra.

I think some posters here have been harsh or maybe the pub has improved since then. I go to this pub for the football and there are also many Irish sports on tv here. I find the staff friendly and good at the bar, rather like a regular pub in Dublin ie they remember your round straight away. On a busy Saturday with Premier League and Gaelic games going on it is hectic, but the clientèle are friendly and there is no bother. The busy staff hand round snacks galore. I have heard lots of Polish spoken and also native Gaelic spoken as well. This is a pub for the sports and Guinness fan and it does that well.

Small, pokey bar. Staff are so up their own a***. very unfriendly. All seem to think they're in a modelling contest. More bothered about flirting with punters than they are serving. Wont be in there again!

This must be one of the worst pubs anywhere.I have never been to a more clannish, unfriendly pub anywhere compared to this.I had not used it for about 6 months although I recently moved to within 3 minutes walk.I wondered why.Now I know, and at 3.50 a pint, thet can stick it and them and I will remember why I will never go to this poor excuse for a pub again.

Only go in here for Football. It's cramped and mixed fans which I hate. Guinness is good, but if you're sitting you'll have to turn your head to face a screen pretty much anywhere and if you stand there is nowhere to put your drink.

You couldnt mistake an afternoon in this pub for anything but a Wishing Well as it has plenty of plasma screens all showing horse racing and a few old Irish boys shouting obscenities at the screen whilst waving worthless betting slips in the air.

As is to be expected the barmaid was very friendly, but the crowd seemed more transient and grubby than usual. The usual suspects were all lined up along the bar so I opted for a Guinness which was very nice. Whilst I was waiting for it to settle I spotted a dartboard case on the wall, but it was closed and there was no oche so I am not sure that there is a board in it.

Some old Irish music was playing in the background, but it was fighting with the commentary of the racing which was a little frustrating.

I have been in better Wishing Wells than this one so I doubt that Id return here.

such ashame the crack has gone from my old favorite pub the well as we call it. What has happened ? There was a big difference to the pub we all loved so much. the bar maid was a friendly girl but some how I got the impression the landlady could smile a little more and mean it. Its only my opinion but it needs a new captain at the helm. very disappointed more like a morgue than the lively spot it once was. Conner Henery

I was in here a few times recently watching the Rugby ETC found it very good excellent Guinness friendly Customers and Staff. Ive never had any Problems in here. I stated using this one when the one at Southgate went down hill seems to be Much Better.

ellie, it's very much the same- if you're in N12 the O'Neills up the road isn't too bad- they have bands on the weekends.

great little pub - didn't see any care in the community on any of our visits there (unless you meant us hahaha) and there were plenty of women - maybe you're just too fussy "anonymous".

Haven't been to the one in N12 - any good London28?

A good lively bar-yes very Irish (music etc) but you don't have to go in there! RE comments below: I agree, I'm passiontly English but have never experienced or heard any anti-English comments. Spent many a good evening in the Wishing Well-
By the way has anyone been in the EXACT replica Wishing Well in N12?

Nice little pub, good guinness but was very quiet when I popped in. Heard it used to be a lot busier. A few care in the community folk drinking in there and no women!

Guinness superb, bar staff very good at what they do.
friendly locals.yes, it is very Irish but the comments from 2 years ago about anti English comments don't ring true.i have never heard this in this pub.I don't tolerate crap like that.Only the other week i walked out of the Prince in Bounds green rd because of a CD, they were behind the bar( i would of reacted stronger, but all the barstaff were Polish, so didn't know what they playing).
The wishing well gets a 9 from me

great little boozer, staff friendly.
drumandmonkeyfan - 27 May 2006 13:35
My preferred boozer in N13. Didn't feel like I was intruding on anyone's local and felt comfortable in pub.

Loads of tellys, dartboard, quiz machine and fruity for passing the time. Friendly staff and patrons as well.

Whenever any friends are visiting N13 I'll take them to the Wishing Well.

Wishing wells always seem the same to me but this is not a bad place to go on a sunday evening. Saying that though I think the fox might be providing competition - they had a good Irish band in there the other sunday and they even played the national anthem. I have not heard that since the National.

the landlady is in a word GORGEOUS has a smile that
would of melted the iceberg that the titanic hit,
as for the comments about the badge kissing and anti
english comments load of rubbish have never seen this
go on, often in there and always been a lively but
good bunch of lads nearly everyone knows everyone irish, english all races and colours the banter is good but never nasty and whats wrong with having lively irish music and be proud of playing the national anthem its a pity the english dont get so proud of there own country and also why is st patricks day a bigger occasion over here than st georges day we know how to have a good night and behave, so i can only summise that this person has made up his mind about the irish already before even
going in this lovely pub or is anti anything not english, a final word why bring up the benifits subject thats just utter crap why do so many english
love going to dublin for stag do's and weekends away
just try get a cheap flight out of england to ireland
on a fri you cant, ENOUGH SAID!!

The land lady is sex on legs, and has Come to bed eyes and what a pub she runs, Comments above are from a person that is prob a racist, Drop in and see if you have not been there yet !!!

Small pub packed with genuine Irish people- Can be a rowdy bunch. Lots of live Irish music and songs about good old Cork and Donagal etc Thay always finish the night completely unnecessarily with the Irish national anthem, where there's lots of badge kissing and occasional anti-English comments get banded about - If you don't like it here guys you know what you can do- it would ease up the benefits system.
