Went to the caravan park here at new year . The bar is a bit run down and only had 3 pumps on. Didnt stay after my first drink as the landladys voice was driving me mad.

Getting back on its feet the snooty fox is definately alive and kicking great to see as so many pubs have been struggling.

A Pheonix from the flames expertly run by Ness and the effervessant John . John is a man full of inspiring ideas and will stop at nothing to resurrect the Snooty Fox back to its glory days .Pop in and enjoy a pint or two of his fine ale , relax in the endearing ambience of the hostelry , kick back and be and be entertained by Johns many tales , jokes and songs.A must visit.

Ok, so I arrived having booked by the (misleadingly pictured) website and very nearly turned around and drove away as the phrase "Bates Motel" flashed through my brain.

However I braved the motel and thank god for my mother telling me to never judge a book by its cover. Whilst it is like sitting in someone's living room when it's quiet, and there's no handpull on tap, the bar is cosy, warm (log fire) and friendly (so very friendly). Bed was comfy and warm, food was basic pub grub but very tasty for all that and I really can't stress enough how friendly and accommodating the owners are.

I almost hope they don't refurbish it as then it wouldn't be a surprise what a superb little place to stay this is.

Fantastic pub (drinks in front of log fire), Fantastic meals (recommend sunday lunch), Fantastic management(what a laugh) stayed here in feb 2007 with my partner in the motel which was very comfortable and clean. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and management. We will definatley be back in may for the bike weekend if not before.

Further to my previous review in which I slated the place, I was pleased to hear that new management are turning the place around and I wish them luck. All the place needed was someone with a bit of foresight -and it looks like that's what they've got now.

Just read the reviw and had to comment. The Snooty Fox has just got a new management team and they are working their socks off to make it a great little pub, with caravan and camp site and great letting rooms. The rooms are fab and now have new heating that can turn a fridge into a heat wave at the touch of a button, they do food all day in the newly opened cafe on site and a full english breakfast including tea is only 5.00. bar meals are available fron 8 till 10. They have just had new ramps fitted to make the whole site accessable for wheelchairs and also pushchairs and prams, and are getting the site improved to reflect the newly aquired three star rating. They are organising live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights and are looking forwards to a good summer. They are biker friendly and welcom coaches and lorries and have facilities for overnight parking for all. Why not cll in and give them a chance you might be pleasently surprised.

Booked to stay overnight, arrived approx 4pm to find pub packed with local footbal team - no problem with this although the language from some was quite bad, despite there being young children around! Asked what time w could eat in the evening and were told that no food was being served due to a 21st party in the pub, despite having been told over the phone that a "light bite" menu would be available. The letting rooms appear to be a converted stable block and would have been adequate but for the lack of heating - far too cold at this time of year to stay in an unheated room: one small fan heater was provied but would have neded to be on for several days to warm a room of that size. At 50 per night for the room only (this is a Motel and they do not do breakfasts)this was unacceptable. Got our money back and went elsewhere.
