user reviews of the Plough, Bletchingley

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

It has been closed for a few weeks and is now reemerging as the Bletchingley Arms from the sign. Kids toys in the garden gone and being turfed over. I wonder what beers will be there?

Didn't try the food (luckily). Was unoffensive early on a Saturday. Doubt it gets better later. There are child friendly pubs that allow middle class parents to meet over a latte and a ciabatta and then there are child friendly pubs for inducting your 6 year old to their first taste of their inevitable life with booze. I'm no fan of either but this falls into the second category.

I have been here three times now, not by choise I might add, friends arranged to meet here. First two times meals were stone cold. Visited again on Sunday 10th July. This time I have no idea if the food was hot or cold, waited nearly two hours!! for my meal, gave up and left in disgust. I will never visit this pub again.

More miss and miss!

Cheap and cheerful but the cheerfulness is engendered by the innocent but slightly yet delightfully mad waitresses...I think the trainer stuffed in the rain gutter, presumably holding up the roof, should have been a warning. Shall I mention the food? Best not. The beer? Definitely not! The only corkscrew in the pub..that didn't work? Amusing maybe a touch ironic. The heating on full blast on mid-summers day? Barely worth a mention at all. All in all a truly memorable experience. Will I return? Is there a cat Schroeder's box? More questions than answers in this unique pub. Worth a visit if you enjoy Dali..he would have, maybe? Oh, yes,,,did I forget to mention that one of the three flying ducks had gone awol?

This pub can be very hit and miss. Sometimes very good and sometimes very very bad. One of the main problems are the bar staff. They try their best but are always understaffed. Beers are normally Courage Best & Directors, which are always well kept. The food is good on most occasions.

Been to Xmas lunch in this establishment and it was truly awful. Not enough staff to get a drink, the salad was dead and hanging off the plate, the mushrooms were edible, but only just. The roast beef was processed and did a good imitation of the Gobi Desert. The roast tatties must have been initially cooked in late October and the boiled potatoes nearly took a filling out. Pudding was fine but I'm not sure if this was simply because it didn't have much to live up to after the first two courses. Do yourselves a favour and find somewhere else to eat. It is the only way establishments like this will pull their socks up and start to care about the food they serve and the customers who pay their wages.

Oh my god! This place is awful. Went there a couple of weeks ago and was extreamly disapointed!! The chips were cold and the gravy on my chicken was thicker than tar. Bar staff were friendly and seemed to enjoy there jobs, the girl whos name was nat (only remember that because my wife asked what it was short for and she cheerfully said it was short for natalie, which is my sisters name)was very bubbly and seemed to enjoy her job and the same for the guy that was behind the bar with her although i cant remember his name he had lots of tattoos all over his arms. I wish the same could be said for what i assume was the manager though, he looked like he was more interested in looking good than running the pub/resturant. If all u want is a good pint and friendly bar staff then give it a go but if its food you want i suggest you go elsewhere.

How hard can it be to cook a RARE steak? It is beyond the cooking skills of this kitchen. They had three atempts and got it wrong each time. Fed up, we went to the WILLIAM instead. They got it right first time with a free bottle if wine to boot. Well done the William. Tucked away but never fogoten.

what a disappointment!!!! never been to such a messy place at all. complained about how long it took to get my coffee and while the manager gave back my money and said sorry she still gave the impression she was not interested. will not go back again!!!!!!!!
a fish and chip shop has better management skills then here.

Now a Millers pub owed by the Spirit group . Try the sizzling chicken Fahittas or the huge bucket sized ice cream dessert . Although not advertised , has a triving trivia Quiz on a Sunday at 7-30pm . Lots of regular teams and good banter .

This has got to be one of the worst pubs in Surrey. I can only put it down to the fact that it has a large car park and is on the main A25 road that it attracts passing trade, especially at weekends. The food is appalling (they can even cock up things as simple as a cheese sandwich!!) and the atmosphere can be best described as ferry lounge "grandeur" meets DFS showroom. Put simple, the Plough (or Miller's Kitchen as it seems to be calling itself these days) is a disgrace. If you want a decent drink and a bite to eat, steer clear.
