The first time that I have been in the pub for a number of years, (last visited when it was called The Globe), and what a difference. As many others have commented, has a very 'corporate' feel to it now and apart from the amazing location could be any pub anywhere. The ground floor bar which was so atmospheric in the past with real ale served from the barrel , etc closed at time of visit....does it ever open anymore?....the main bar upstairs served decent beer with welcoming staff but the place virtually empty on one of the busiest nights of the year. What on earth were the brewery thinking off when they revamped the place ?

Nice pub. Friendly young girl behind the bar. Possibly the worst fried snack selection I have ever had in a pub. I think you can sit out the back overlooing the harbour which is nice.
This pub is fine as long as ou don't try the fried onion rings !

Friendly staff, nice pint of Cornish ale. I would recommend this pub to any Falmouth visitors, outside tables are level !

Didn't like this place the moment I walked in, ground flloor bar closed with sign pointing to upstairs bar, where one young lass only one serving and taking her time. Food smelt and looked truck stop and greasy, beer not all that either. Will give this a miss next time.

Used to be a great "two level" pub with outside tables and live music downstairs, and the more foody area with views over the water upstairs. Agree with all the posters wishing for the good old days. Went here in August after a couple of years break and it was a serious disappointment in its corporate guise.

So looked forward to coming back here after 2 years away. Always used to be a favourite of mine for great cask ale. Bitter now not served direct from the (cask) barrell and wasn't good at all. At more than �3 for just a locally made bitter i felt completely ripped off. Very sad to say i won't be going back here any more.

Since the refurb a couple of years ago has changed for worst.
On a recent visit had a pint of Skinners, it was not very good.
Why did they stop serving ales direct from the barrel?

Good Cornish beers served. Did not try the food as the smell of fat put me off a bit, but worth a look for the ales.

In here on Easter Sunday and six months on from the visit of "gillhalfpint" and not a lot more to add. 7 pumps 5 in use 3 for Skinners 1 for Sharps Doombar
and I guest which was Top Totty from Stafford. Meals still �10 for two. Looks OK but not so good if you are on your own as you could pay up to �9.70 for one.
Have Fosters @ �2.35 & John Smiths (keg) @ �2.22 a pint

Called in for a meal as we were staying in Falmouth for the beer festival. Food superb value with the steak pies served on the plate with a jug of gravy instead of in pots often microwaved to death. Great value meals 2 for �10 too. Ales well kept usually Skinners and Sharps. Had Skinners Q brew and found it was a rebadge of Keel Over done for the pub.

Called in as it is a Good Beer Guide pub I haven't been to before. Not very impressive inside, but I was looking down to the outside seating area and I imagine that would be great when the sun is shining. Had a Sharps and a Skinners beer. Not bad condition. Food menu looked good and cheap, but didn't try it.

Available were Skinners Betty Stoggs, Doom Bar and Speckled Hen (I think). Had Betty Stoggs which was in good condition. Food was mediocre at best (although it was cheap). Looked like a clone pub inside. Decent rating as they at least had real ale in good condition.

Went to this pub last summer, totally changed, a few years back it was real spit and sawdust with old barrels over the down stairs bar and I seem to remember free peanuts at one stage with their 'casings' been randomly scattered on the bar floor-proper cornish seaman pub-reflcting the history of falmouth, i'ts now a souless pastel washed bistro wannabee
If I wanted to go to a slug and lettice I'd go on the lash in Newquay!

A pub that used to have immense character totally sanitised by it's corporate owner who also owns the Chainlocker next door.
Less than mediocre.

Owned by same people as own Chainlocker. Much preferred it's old name of many, many years ago 'The Globe'. Beats me why compamies have to change pub names.
Don't like it inside as much now but sitting ouside in the summer is pretty good after a hard days graft at the beach.
It's biggest/only asset is the decent range of local real ales served (Skinners), but even this is less than in 2007 when they had seven on offer including two from Sharps. 2008 they had no Sharps and only 4 Skinners. This is a backward step for me and my group of ale drinkers.
Fortunatel The Chainlocker had some alternatives that The Quayside didn't, so I guess between the two b pubs it was OK.
Staff inexpereienced but did a good job and friendly.

Nice pub. They no longer serve beer from the barrel at the back, but good range of ales. Not sure if it's owned by the same people that own the Chain Locker?

A traditional ales pub, popular with students. The tables outside on the quay are packed very tightly together and there is generally lots of food and rubbish lying about attracting the many seagulls which are now blighting the town.

Brilliant, worth a trip to cornwall just to visit this pub!, First class staff, great atmosphere, live bands, quiz night (great fun!),excellent selection of ales/beers,good well cooked food (&really good value leaving more money for beer!) & the chefs ok too!. well worth popping in if you want a good night out.

Visited 21/10/06 late afternoon. A picturesque setting with outside seating by the waterfront. Skinners was a reasonable drink but not up to the standard of other pubs in the area. Ordered a couple of meals which were the poorest I have ever been served in any pub I have visited on my travels around the country. If they had been slightly warm it would have helped. The appearance of a dishevelled chef(he was wearing the checked trousers) scratching his head did not help. I did not send the meal back having heard from chefs before about what happens to them when returned to kitchen.I will not use this pub again.

It might be my taste but I consider the Sharps Beers
that this pub serves are as yet the best in the county
Pub has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere
bar staff brilliant

Been refurbished recently,excellant venue Sharps Beer are top grade best around
Food good,Female staff bril.males ok!!!
Live music is good gets crowded though

Excellent pub, good selection of real ales. Staff very friendly, atmosphere good. Also does very good food. In the evening best to try the downstairs bar, this leads out onto the quayside. One of the best pubs i have been in for years.
