The Pub has sadly now closed - sometime during the middle of 2013.

Seems to have changed hands again - it is currently displaying the old legend - "under new management"! The staff are all wearing shirts saying "Wishing Well Inns", so presumably that is a chain tha has bought it. Can't say I have ever heard of them.
Still looks rather tired, the only cask ale available was "Old Speckled Hen" which was served much warmer than it should have been and was a little lifeless. The pub was fairly quiet and was all reasonably pleasant until someone turned the volume of the music up to a ridiculous level - good job I was on my own as conversation would have been impossible!! There are signs everywhere saying "We have a zero tollerance (sic) towards drugs. Anybody found will be prosecuted" - so dont be " found" in the Two Brewers!!

Not been the same since dear old Bert left years ago, he was the pub!

Have visited this pub many times over the years.

Very little has changed - the pub has always been dark and full of people who would be turned away from other pubs; heavily intoxicated to the point of not being able to stand, shouting loudly and swearing.

It also has a young, yobbish element who occupy the pool table area and shout and swear their heads off. Being a smallish pub, the noise carries into every part of it and is extremely offputting.

The bar staff are generally ok, no real problems there and the beer is all very standard. The decor is very, very tired and takes a great deal away from any prospective atmosphere.

Overall, a poor, tired pub which, without a minor miracle, has very little future. It needs a complete overhaul, more stringent door policy and drastic change of image before I, or anyone I know would ever consider drinking there. Avoid.

I would just like to say that we are new to the area and have only just taken over the pub so please do not expect miracles straight away. we have to be able to have time to get to know the area and the customers that are coming into our pub before we can start making judgements on people. we would like to say that we like to give everyone a fair chance (which we do not seem to be getting) and at present have not had any problems from the people that are coming in.

Sadly nothing has changed in the pub, same old problems

Hopefully the new management will keep the unsavourys at bay, Once shot of them, they may have a chance in making a success of the pub.

There is a new manager in the pub. We are sorry to hear that you have not all had a good time in the pub in recent times. Please do not hesitate to let us know of any suggestions that you may have as they are all welcome. We will try our best to read and act on as many suggestions as we are able to.
We hope to see you all soon and welcome you to join us in having a good time.

I'm not sure what is happening here management wise but the pub is definately still open. There are also some new signs up advertising for weekend staff so it looks like there have been some personel changes. I have not been very impressed on my last 2 or 3 visits and everything seemed to be geared towards attracting the sort of people I choose to avoid hence I have steered clear of the place for some time now. I will give it another go shortly once the new management (assuming that is the case) has settled in but I am not expecting too much. Shame because as I have said before, the place has so much potential and for a while I thought the guy was beginning to make a decent job of it.

RogerB.. It was due to be closed over the weekend of 15th June, the landlord mark was closing the brewers down along with his other pub in orpington. Is there a new landlord?
footballfan - 21 Jun 2008 20:32
Stories of its ultimate demise appear to be somewhat wide of the mark. It was open when I walked past 15 minutes ago!

**Update**
The Two Brewers is now CLOSED

I used to be a regular in the Two Brewers, sadly it has gone the way like the plough did, it's full of unsavoury people that just want trouble. The bar staff are rude and haven't a clue in what they are doing, especially the short barmaid that seems to have a different boyfriend everyday! The landlord looked like sorting the place out when he took over but it seems like he's more concerned with his other pub, the price of a pint is almost 3 for a pint of fosters, all the beer seems to be watered down as well. The Two Brewers used to get a good crowd in to watch football but the landlord has had SKY removed!
Last time i was in there they had a problem with mice, yet they still had the kitchen open! (are the mice still there?)
All this wouldn't have happened if shaun was still in charge!
The soon this pub is closed down, the better

I fear that the Two Brewers honeymoon period is over and any great hope I had about the improvements over the past year are rapidly disappearing. On my last 3 visits, just 1 Ale has been on and the priority seems to have shifted from decent beers to live music (the pub logistics are hardly conducive to live bands) and dodgy named DJs (oh God!). We intended to go and watch one of the live bands over Easter but left after 1 pint because the atmosphere became quite intimidating with several unsavoury people eying up the place for potential trouble. The new perimeter fence already has panels hanging off and there does not appear to be any rush to fix them. I would go so far as to say that it is probably as bad now as it has ever been and with the nearby Plough now closed after a constant battle against troublesome customers, the Two Brewers seems to be trying to attract the same sort of people and is now potentially in the firing line to go the same way. A shame as the new landlord (is he still there?) initially tried so hard to realise the pubs potential.

I paid a visit or two here, to The Two Brewers a couple of years ago and todays afternoon visit (17th March) was my first since. As already reported, the pub has indeed had a refurbishment and is all the better for it. Tidy, cosy and well furnished, I enjoyed soaking up the surroundings during my hour spent in here. The low-beamed ceiling adds a welcome touch of intimacy and it all makes for a rather quaint experience. I noticed six hand pumps, though only one was seemingly in operation. At 2.95, the Guinness is slightly pricey, but for killing time and chilling out with the daily rag, you could do a lot worse than being in here. Go on, pay a visit Ill be doing so again. I just hope the next time Im here there will be more than three patrons present!

Much improved. A beautiful old building which is being slowly improved by the new owner. A good sized grass beer garden has replaced the concrete wasteland and broken glass, leather chesterfields have replaced the old furniture, real ales back on, draught cask scrumpy, and decent food at decent prices. And are we beginning to see a pattern of events here? Bungee crane last weekend (Bank Holiday) and, I understand, bucking bronco for the next BH. Fun, friendly and increasingly busy. Recommended for a pint or a meal!

Ah! The pub where it all started some 20-odd years ago. Another of Lagermaster's favourite pubs. A great place for a lunchtime pint. Certainly not blessed with a modern decor but generally clean and welcoming - the removal of the pool table in favour of some additional comfy leather chairs is a big plus (especially if you are an 'at-the-bar' drinker). OK, so you need to be flexible to drink here (the low beams have taken their toll on the old noggin) and it can get a bit smokey at times (it's a pub for gawd's sake) but it is so 'un-Dartford' like i.e. a Chavvie, teenie, ganster wannabe free zone that you never feel the need to be on your guard just incase their alcopops kick in. Everytime I go in there it feels like I've come home....and I like my home. Oh, and a cracking kebab is waiting for you just next door!

Paid my first visit since the pub reopened and the signs are very promising. Someone must have read my notes as the new boss has reintroduced Real Ales after an absense of several years. Sensibly, he has opted to initially stock Ruddles County and Old Speckled Hen (both 2.40) which is from the better end of the Green King range and neither are regulalrly found in Dartford. I was informed that a Real Cider is also due and the ubiquitous Strongbow is being replaced by Thatchers. All this shows a bit of imagination and endeavour that had previously been lacking under the old regime. Some of the furnishings have been swapped around. The pool table has been shifted to the other side of the pub and a few sofas put in its old place. The numerous fruit/quiz machines that stood in front of the old fireplace and range have now gone to reveal some of the interiors better assets. Part of the car park at the rear has now been turfed over and new benches laid out although not much can be done about the view of the multi-storey car park and my sneaky short cut through the car park on the way to and from work has now been curtailed. It would have been nice for the old pub sign in the car park to have been repaired and retained but sadly this has been sacrificed. The new guvnor is gradually pulling this place into a better shape although there is still work to be done. A few minor points: the picture quality on the small TV needs addressing although the plasma screen around the corner was fine. Some of the decor is getting tatty and the outside could do with more than a lick of paint, especially the rotting windows. Some of the customer base could also do with some lessons in language restraint. This pub has been neglected for several years but it is good to see that someone is finally showing some interest in it and hopefully it can soon reach its full potential.

The Brewers is currently closed whilst undergoing a major refurbishment. Hopefully when it reopens it will be cared for in a way that the building deserves. And can we have some proper beers!

I've ventured in this pub a few times now and despite the gloom that prevails once you've entered, The Two Brewers is actually quite a cosy little pub. I'd recommended it enough for a drink or two during the week and with it being situated away from the mayhem of the high street, it could perhaps makes a half decent alternative on a Friday or Saturday night.
HTM69 - 19 Jun 2006 23:59
Duck! Nice enough stop off on a week night or a cosy Saturday afternoon. Dark and dingy and vaguely historic, my kind of pub!
kutiepie6662003 - 18 Feb 2006 15:28
Cheap drink, Decent music, Nice staff especially 1 in particular!
all good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do have to duck though 24-7 but once you get the hang on ducking and diving not too bad.
lo6 - 31 Jan 2006 10:47
Not a pub for tall people. The low beams have claimed many a 6 footer who forgot to duck. Behind the wonderful Victorian green tiled faade lies a typical Kent weather boarded building, probably about 300 years old. The interior was completely renovated about 15 years ago and is now more in keeping with the buildings character than it was previously. There is a pool table, games machines and they regularly show sport. The beers are nothing fancy but are reasonably priced. There is a beer patio out the back but this is usually covered in broken glass and litter. It does, however, have a lovely view of the multi-storey car park. The building is generally very tatty, especially the outside, and this is a real shame because with a bit of care and attention, the Two Brewers could be one of the better pubs in Dartford.
