Initial disappointment to find only two real ales on offer alleviated to find that the choice was Brakspear Oxford Gold and Wychwood Hobgoblin - we sampled both and all agreed that the beers were well kept and moreish.
Mein host was very welcoming and jovial (perhaps we caught him on a good day).
3.10 - 3.30 per pint was something of a shock for Black Country folk used to paying 1.80 - 2.40 but this was offset by the fact that having paid 6.25 for lunch we were all gobsmacked by the size of the portions and the chipshop quality chips (a refreshing change from the plasticy oven chips that are normally served in pubs - one of few niggles with J D Wetherspoons).
We spent five hours in Banbury, visiting four pubs, and all agreed that the meal was the highlight of our visit.

Went in here for the first time last weekend, reasonable ales, but the pub had an atmosphere of a fight about to happen. Didn't hang around to see if i was right !

Good Pub with excellent management and friendly regulars. Varied selections of both ales and lagers most of the time.
One of the largest beer gardens in Banbury which is a God send in the summer.
A comprehensive and well priced food menu is also available during the day.
Beer prices though are on the high side of average and can occasionally get raucous very late in the evenings.

Entertainment with an underlying threat of violence, The best pub in the world.

Although it can have a bit of a clique, it is a well run pub with an old fashioned style management. Good for watching football and good quality beer. Nice for a drink in the sun but the outdoor seats & tables could do with a clean and service.
Can often get loud (the local female clique lower the tone with their constant screeching, can be very off putting). Excellent Sunday lunch and great value for money.

Food: Excellent. Good price, good quality & lots of it
Decor: Reasonable decor
Toilets: Basic but clean
Service: Excellent if the landlord is there, poor if he is away

JT's is by far the best pub in Banbury! :)

Slightly biased view i know, but you have a fantastic landlord, and staff, excellent entertainment, the locals are all mental, you feel at home, and it's never a dull moment.

Give me JT's over Yates's any day!

J.T's is a hard place to evaluate really. It sells a sometimes decent pint of Bass and often another R.A, but it is rather cliquey. Handy place to sit outside in the summer and watch the world go by, if the girls will stop screaching at each other, also good place to catch up with some football matches and drink R.A at the same time, harder than you may think in Banbury. It's passable.

Forget it unless you're a die-hard local. The epitome of clicke-dom.
