user reviews of the Fox Inn, Souldern

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Fox is situated at the end of a lovely little village. I arrived into the tiny car park just in time as the barman was closing at around 10:30 on my Tuesday evening visit. Two other locals were the only other customers. It's a relatively small pub with outdoor gents toilets. Plenty of character and with 2 ales - Timothy Taylor Boltmaker & XT 3. Certainly worth a visit.

Excellent night at the Fox on Monday - though so stuffed from the afternoon Jubilee tea the BBQ was a challenge. Beers though were good - especially Shepherd Neame Spitfire, followed by Holden's Black Country Bitter and one other I forget!

The next 'do' in my diary is the Fox Ale'lympics from 18.00 July 20th - late on July 22nd. I don't know I'll make all 3 days ...... tho' there are to be 20 'Olympic' themed ales from around the country.

Visited at lunchtime today - we were pleased to find a good pub with well kept beers, excellent food at reasonable prices and good service. We will be back!
Car park is small but I had no difficulty in parking in the street outside.
(Only one problem - I was driving!!)

I love this pub. The staff, the local, the food and most importantly the beer are top notch. Always have Hooky on and two guest ales so never stuck for choice. A lot of pubs have real ale as it is on the up in market sales, The Fox have it because they love it!!! That TLC makes all the difference.

If you are in the area when the beer festival is on, makesure you pop in as you wont regret it.

The Fox at Souldern is holding it's Beer Festival next weekend - running from Friday to Sunday.

I understand some very special beers will be available that aren't normally allowed to leave Yorkshire - so get there early to avoid disappointment - but save some for me!!

This pub's rating should be way higher and reflects on previous landlords.

The food here is consistently excellent and the surroundings are lovely.

The couple who run the place are very friendly too.

Prone to the odd group of toffs but I'm being picky.

Stumbled across this charming pub with a great and ever changing selection of ales and truly scrummy food (and proper sized portions too!) a while back and have enjoyed every repeat visit. With always friendly people around this is a great pub!

Have had great fun at their Sunday Quiz Night and the Beer Festival during the only few nice days last Summer - I see from their website that the Beer Festival is making a welcome return this year along with many other events. Roll on Bangers Week!

Highly recommended!

This pub changed hands in late november 07 and has been transformed, good rotating cask ales homecooked food and a previously undiscovered beer garden well worth a visit

A fine example ..... of how a lovely country pub can be ruined! It's a wine bar! Beer is awful and the locals ..... there aren't any! They've all been outed by the yuppies! This was my local but I chose to travel to Fewcott to the White Lion. Now that's a pub!

This pub went through a bad patch for a couple of years when the freeholder sold up to Mentor Inns but the current landlord has got it back on to a level footing. The food and wine is very good and ambience nearly as good as in the old times. The decor has also been improved and it now has a nice warm feel to the place. Would be nice if there was a quality newspaper to read when visiting.
