please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Globe is a popular, independently owned Wells pub set on the green at the top of Staithe street. It seems to have had a different re-fit every time I visit. The current look has a very light feel with really stripped pine everywhere, and the bar feels more like a deli counter / shop than a bar… 3 beers when I visited in Feb 2017, Woodfordes Nelson’s Revenge and Wherry, along with Adnams Ghost ship. It also has rooms in both the main building and converted courtyard buildings. I have no problems with the pub, and it is definitely in a lovely setting, but I didn’t hear many Norfolk accents on my last visit… It’s not a secret that this area of the North Norfolk coastline is exceptionally beautiful, and tourism is undoubtedly good for any area. However, not all is well; the locals in (the more down at heel) Downham Market where I stayed were certainly moaning about Londoners buying up houses as second homes…

Very busy town and very busy pub... at least when the sun is shining. Nice pint of broadside - which we had to take out onto the green, as there was nowhere else to go.

This pub is in the Buttlands area of Wells so expect the "What would sir like?" ...etc. I paid 3.60 a pint for a very nice pint of Adnams Lighthouse, only Adnam's ales are ever on... but they change the offering ( Adnams now have a huge portfolio of good ales). Sitting outside looking at the large village green surrounded by Georgian houses... things could be worse. An overspill seating area is located in a courtyard to the right of the Globe. Worth a GBG entry if purely judged on ale quality ( which is how its meant to work).

Only had a few beers here sitting out in front next to the green, but overall impressions were good. Adnams beers and also a wheat beer called Spindrift...
I'm guessing food would also be very good.

Spent a few days in Wells recently and The Globe quickly became our pub of choice. It's tied to the Adnams Brewery so beer choice is a bit limited but perfectly acceptable. If the food is slightly pricey it's because it's freshly prepared and very tasty. The service was never less than excellent and the decor is splendid too. Recommended.

Visited this on 2 occasions when in Norfolk last week.

Beer excellent and good food if slightly pricy - spicy fried whitebait were excellent!

this pub has three rooms, the large front bar, an even larger dining room at the read and a small side room with half a dozen tables.

we bought a pint in the bar on friday evening but were forced to drink it outside as the smell of the toilets was overpowering.

we turned up at 8:10 pm on saturday evening looking for somewhere to eat. thankfully the smell had gone. the bar and dining rooms were both full but the side room was empty.

however, we were told that they were not taking any more "walk ins", even though they were obviously not full as the side room wasn't occupied.

i am in complete admiration of the landlord that he can run such a tight ship that he can afford, in these straightened times, to turn away good business from a pub with available seating capacity. congratulations my friend, you will undoubtably be up for norfolk landlord of the year in a trice.

we wandered around the corner to another pub and spent our 40 on two lovely dinners and several pints of Tom Wood's very fine Lincolnshire ale.

arrived on the 28/05/08,walked in the bar with my 5yr old son to see if they allowed children in the bar,was told straight away were the toilets were by a regular sitting at the bar, explained that we wanted food and drink and was told to make our selfs at home, the managment and staff were fantastic within 5 mins we were seated and looked after, with good ale,and very good food, what a good pub, would recommend this pub to anybody visiting the area, parking can be a problem.

Recently refurbished to a high standard, serving a good range of beer and excellent, reasonably priced food, the steak night on Wednesday is very good value.
