Avoid unless it's the only pub left open... Only it gets any marks at all is because you can get a cold beer here - it's only virtue.

I'm in agreement with most. Not a fan of this place at all... There are some really nice pubs in Clerkenwell, but for me, this ain't one of them! Expensive, bad service, no atmosphere..

After hearing from friends about the changed made, I felt I had to give the place another try. Previously I was uninpressed with the long waits for the food which when came was rather dire.

I am so glad that I decided to give the place another try. Although the place was packed with diners, I didn't have to wait too long. And when it did arrive, wow. It was really tasty.

After the past month or so the kitchen has had a major revamp, and new chefs have been brought in. Everything is prepared freshly on the premises that day.

Far better pubs in virtually every direction from the faux All Bar One. 9 for a bog standard lager and small wine hurt the pocket badly and ensured it would be our one and only visit.

Over-priced and terrible service, but popular in the summer due to the huge outdoor area, which is ususual given it's location. At some point someone is going to build a block of appartments or offices on the outdoor bit and when they do ....

Forget it. As already mentioned it takes forever to get served, the surly staff have no idea who is next in line, and don't particularly care!

And if you order from one of the Waiters in the outdoor area, not only do you have to wait 30 minutes for your drinks - they add 10% service charge to the bill. A joke.

The Hat and Feathers is well located for weekday trade and on appearance is well maintained with an excellent outdoor area for the summer. Unfortunately the staff let the place down. On my last 3 visits I have had to wait over 20 minutes at the bar to get served, each time due to a lack of organisation behind the bar. Needless to say I will be going elsewhere in the future!

This bar is well situated, it has a good sized outdoor area and has a good selection of beers(If not a little pricey).

BUT, it takes an eternity to get served! In the past month I have tried to get a beer after work 4 times only once was I served within 10 minutes. Because of this I went down the road to the Sutton Arms, a great little boozer which is able to hand over a beer within an acceptable time frame. Waiting for beer is not an option these days.

If they could sort the service out I would venture to the Hat & Feathers again. For now its the Sutton Arms or 19/20.

The Hat and Feathers needs to change it's name to the Fluster and kerfuffle.

We arrived (a table of 5) with forty five minutes to spare before our meeting.
There were no tables in the outside seating area, so we thought lets order a beer, and wait for a table. This seemed to start the confusion as the waiter couldn't give us beer without a table.
Then a nice man said we could have his table once he gets his bill.
It took a Loooong time for him to get his bill.

Eventually once seated our beers arrived, (well 4 of the 5 we ordered)
There was another kerfuffle to get the missing the beer.

Eventually we got our food orders taken.
two meals arrive promptly, the other three took another 15 minutes..

To cut a loooong and boring story short we were late for our meeting.
Nice beer that Peroni
waaah waah waahh

Not a bad place. Nice clientele, they did have a great outdoors area (which now appears to be closed), the bar food is okay, although the wine selection is narrow and a little pricey. Great decor, quiet, and a relaxed vibe. On a busy road though so not great if you do want to go out for a smoke.

Reopened after several years derelict. Reasonable decor and selection of beers.
