please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

After fish and chips in the market square, we moved to the Kings Arms where Theakston's Best, Old Peculier and a couple of offerings from Black Sheep were on sale. So the range was typically Masham and the Best was the best pint of the evening thus far. It's a Greene King Chef and Brewer so arguably more food-orientated but there's no reason not to have just a drink here. The local bingo ladies offered us the chance to join in but we had to move on.....

Nice pub with Range of Black Sheep and Theakstons beers. Only stayed for a couple but seemed a nice, laid back kind of place

Visited yesterday for the first time in many years and it was a pleasure to just sit in the bar and watch the world go by before visiting the Black sheep brewery.

Food prices very reasonable in my opinion and of good quality.

Food was pretty good albeit a bit pricey (although we used Tescos vouchers), beer well kept. It seems improved on since my last visit 2 years ago. Another decent boozer in Masham.

Appears to have changed ownership as now part of a chain of pubs.
Black sheep beer was excellent.
Mixed grill was poor, sausages tasted of nothing other than re -processed pork.
Must try harder with food.

Posh and tastefully decorated hotel adjacent to Masham's large marketplace, with surprisingly cheap beer all things considered. More food oriented of course but the beers are well kept. Black Sheep Bitter and Ale, Theakston's Best Bitter and Old Peculier, usual kegs also available. Comfortable bar and informal dining area with bare boards and tongue and groove wainscotting much in evidence. Jazz background music, a modern fireplace and some pleasant art work attempt a touch of sophistication. Inevitably perhaps, there is a big screen TV, although it looks more than a little out of place here.

Pleasant enough, good beer but a bit bland.

A pleasant prosperous hotel in the centre of Masham, commanding the vast and windy Market Place. It has fairly recently and sympathetically been refurbished, giving a light and modern atmosphere, though not unpleasantly so.The bar meals are well prepared and good value, and the more formal offerings looked interesting. Beer frrom the usual suspects, given where the pub is: Theakston's Black Bull was perhaps appropriately a more rounded take on Black Sheep.
