Was very quiet here today on our Saturday lunchtime visit. It must be one of the very few pubs in Uxbridge I hadn't previously tried. Doom Bar is the solitary real ale. Difficult to judge given how quiet it was. But the landlord seemed friendly enough.

Elegiac Stanzas must have visited this pub on a really bad night to have posted his comments below.

The Dolphin may not be in the most scenic position, sited on an ordinary road on the outskirts of Uxbridge, but it has a regular and friendly clientele and an easy-going and likeable landlord.

It doesn't make the most of it's canal-side location, but health and safety issues are probably the reason for the wire fence separating the small garden from the water's edge.

The Dolphin also has live music on many Friday nights, and the bands I've seen there have been well worth a visit.

Surprisingly hostile clientele and bar staff in this pub. Im of the age where I rarely feel intimidated in pubs these days, but this place was one of the few exceptions.

I was charged 7.50 for a meal priced at 6.90 on the menu, but the landlords aggressive tone made clear that this was not to be challenged.

Very poor drinks selection as well, awash with the likes of Carling and Stella but nothing decent at all. Its a shame with, the lovely canalside location and beer garden, that this is such an awful pub.

Massive pub with a big bar, easy to get served would go back again if it wasn't so far away from home!

If cheers were remade in England it would be set here. The staff are really good and there are so many different characters that on a Friday,Saturday or when football is on it is very often laugh out loud. Good selection of beers as well.

Friendly, good value food, excellent ale despite previous comment, needs a better mooring if after canal trade but this may be out of their hands.

The extension and refurbishment have made a lot more room available for live music. The new bar and fixtures have restored the Brakspears to its full glory. The beer garden now has decking and lawn next to the cannal, creating a geat place to relax with a few pints in the good weather. This lovely old place has got even better.

The newly enhanced CULPRITS are appearing in the recently extended Dolphin on Saturday evening, 8/5/04. I will be there with my crew, enjoying the music along with the Brakspear's. More room for the air guitarists can't be bad. Come and join us and enjoy a great evening. John.

We all had a great evening, enjoying the wonderful entertainment provided by THE CULPRITS and the excellent Brakspears Bitter. Finally, the demand for the real ale has pushed the quality to its very best. All we have to do now is keep drinking it.

The Culprits are back 6/12/03. Great entertainment in a very friendly pub. I will be there with my crew, drinking the Brakspears and enjoying the audience partisipation. John

Real ale quality never impressive due to lack of demand, but still drinkable. Check out The Culprits, a great guitar & bass, harmony singing duo, when they are playing on a Saturday evening, if you like Dire Straits.
