Much improved. 99% of beer now sourced from Devon. The Branscombe "Dem bones" was very nice. 3.5% and £ 2.50 a pint. The food was pleasant and reasonably priced. Very dog friendly as well.

Great beer, lovely food, friendly landlord and locals, lovely old pub and location, I couldn't fault it on my visits

What a great little pub!
Hidden away in the village a East Budleigh this was a very cosy little place indeed. It was finally nice to find a traditional local sort of place in East Devon that isn't overated and overpriced.
Pint of ale was superb and my girlfriend enjoyed the house vodka.

9/10

A fine Tudor/Jacobean style black and white exterior pub

Inside had two areas, all in black beam and white. It has a small bar, partitioned with wood panel from what has been set out as a lounge/food area. Lots of local pictures and those of Sir Walter (born a mile up the road) adorn the wall and there are a lot of brass and other ornaments. I found it friendly and quiet, the few clientele were mature patrons. Traditional.

Beer; tap tosh and Otter Ale, Exmoor Ale and a decent Theakston's Bitter on handpull

A really traditional village pub, a delight to visit.

Agree that it is like walking into someones front room, but found it to be very friendly and helpful bar staff, best pint of otter ale i've ever had!!!
was made and excellent sandwich even though it was past serving time for food. Beautiful village location!!

Located in East Budleigh a couple of miles from B. Salterton.

Has got better recently, but you still get the feeling that you have entered someones front room, if you are not a local. Not too friendly and a great possibility that a local will be served before you will. Could do better.
