Not sure about this. OK for a pint, good selection of beers, but no atmosphere, cafe bar maybe unfair but not a pub.

I don't particularly like the cafe bar style of pub but full credit for a wide range of quality beers at reasonable prices. Not one to stay for a session but certainly worth popping into.

Superb! It advertises up to 23 ales outside and the trading standards people won't be able to criticise! 17 cask ale handpumps (15 of which were on) plus a further 6 real cider pumps. I called in late on and wished I'd come here first! Highly recommended for any cask ale fan. It's not often I give 9/10!

Fantastic range of beers (I kept losing count of the handpumps) in slightly charmless environment. Nothing wrong with the place, but nothing special. The Lion and Key nearby (listed on BITE as Durty Nelly's) is run by the same management and we thought the better of the two.

What a nice place on a drizzly Saturday afternoon, good range of real ales - three Elgood's - Cambridge, Black Dog & Kick boxer, Summer Lightning, Empire Moonraker Mild, Ringwood Old Thumper, Wold Top's Voluptuous Vicky - who's charms I resisted and tried the Saltaire Cascadian Black, the three or was it four I tried were all of good quality. From personal point of view another blonde beer would have rounded off a good session perfectly

Loved it - and so did the girls! A modern stylish bar with loads of real ale and a very calming atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of other "old town" pubs and bars. Very friendly locals who don't mind sharing tables with you. Recommended!

A modern and stylish bar with a relaxing atmosphere for 'adults'. A refreshing contrast to other (albeit equally good) bars on a saturday night 'round 'Old Town'

must be the best pub in hull for a range of real ciders and ale. a modern feel to this pub with plush black sofas low lighting and upbeat tunes.but the draw must be for the drinks 10 handpumps good selection of foreign beers , and spirits i went to walters on the strength of the reviews on this site whilst waiting in hull to catch the ferry to belgium... nearly missed the boat i had to be dragged out

Hull's biggest and best range of Ciders on 6 handpulls!

Well I am pleased to say that since my last posting of Oct 2009, no worries here. How many pubs can you go to when the answer to a casual question from the bar tender to "Who brews Walters Pale Ale for you?" is "Me!" And an establishment that is selling 10 cask ales, is busy mid week and selling top condition ale at a reasonable price in a contemporary environment - enough said. Keep the good work up Al and Paul. And can you open a branch in Canary Wharf please where I work and beer costs over a pound a pint more, from a child of Hull!

Nearest thing to a real 'bar' in Hull. 13 real ales to choose from, great selection of Euro-Lagers, friendly locals & staff. Wins CAMRA awards, also has 'the cleanest cellar in Hull'. Go. Now.

A bar rather than a pub: however don't let that put you off. Very friendly and efficient service, and a good atmosphere from the locals. Definitely no chavs, and good choice of classic rock on the PA system. Seemed quite an intimate venue.
Big range of interesting ales at fair prices. The ales were well kept with one exception: the Bass on special offer was watery. I think that was an unfortunate one-off since the others were much better.
One of the better venues in Hull.

This was the best place we found on a mini crawl of Good Beer Guide pubs in Hull centre while waiting for the ferry. Good selection of beers in a clean tidy pub with friendly staff. Only downside was the beer was rather cold, but maybe thats how the locals like it.

Never been here before, but visited twice in one weekend. Does what it says on the tin - aimed at 40+ beer lovers, not yobby, comfortable and for Hull slightly upmarket. Excellent beer choice 1 - Perry, 2 Ciders, 8 Ales (including 3 from local brewer Newsome). Focused and know its market, I hope it is still good when I next visit in a few months.

There is nowhere else quite like this place in Hull, especially in the city centre. A wide choice of real ales plus contintental beers on draught and in bottles and extensive wine range. A relaxed friendly non-threatening atmosphere with no loud music, no machines and no chavs.

modern bar serving loads of cask ales (10 I Think) beer is in top form ,
cosy atmosphere with a great selection of drinks ,very clean, nice place to bring the missus :)

Very modern styled bar with an extraordinary 10 hand pulls for ale plus another three for real cider, plus some foreign bottles and kegs. The ales are from micros across the country and in excellent condition and keenly priced at 1-60 to 2-60 a pint depending on strength. Quite an easy place to lose many happy hours. Wide, bright drinking area at the front with a more subdued sitting area equipped with big comfy black armchairs at the rear. Spot the rude words in the 'Wordster' demo on the games machine.

Up and coming modern bar with a good range of ever changing real ales. Comfy seats, decent selection of wine, no fruit machines. All in all a nice place if you want a chat with some peace and quiet. The beer has always been top notch when we've been in as well.

Excellent pub with wide range of (mostly) weak ales when I called but really good atmosphere and drinks. Cracking good pub which reminds me of a smaller version of Bacchus in Newcastle. Living proof , as is Bacchus, that real ale and nice bars can mix
Joe_Cundy - 6 Dec 2008 23:17
Usually between 6 and 8 constantly changing draught ales, draught Erdinger weiss & dunkel and Belgian fruit beers. Other continental draught beers availabler on druaght - a cut abover the usual Kronenburg etc. In fact Stella was taken out because nobody was buying it! Extensive wine list if that's your thing.

Has now extended upstairs with an extra bar at weekends.

Chav free zone with over 21s only policy. No pool, fruit machines or TV, just drinks and conversation.

A fine establishment - class, comfort and the finest beverages - a 21st Century pub

Wow. A real ale pub that doesn't make you feel like you should be wearing a flat cap or curlers and a headscarf. Fantastic range of beers and a nice trendy decor. Nice atmosphere and the bar staff are very helpful in recommending beers.

Fantastic range of real ale, and a great atmosphere. An oasis in the fairly dour range of pubs in Hull City Old town.
