Nice pub/bar split into 3 sections with huge open spaces in the middle near the bar area and seated area in very nice surroundings around the corner. This place is so large it could hold 200 people and you wouldnt know it. I really like this place to relax during the day for food however on a Friday and Saturday it can get quite busy. There always seems to be quite a wait to be served, sometimes bordering on reciculous. One day I waited over 25 minutes to be served a drink when busy. I would suggest a quieter bar around the corner? Or more staff to help with congestion at busy times?

pub is huge.i thought it was like 4 pubs in one .went in on a sat morn then again sat nite, was more like a club at nite.lots of ale taps but only a couple were on.in saying that was great atmosphere and would go back next time in durham.

Lots of beer pumps but few beers.Staff got REALLY nasty when I commented on this. The must have the rudest bar staff in Durham. There are far better places in the city. Avoid this one if you want a pleasant drink.

Standard Lloyds, quite good in that it has a decent seating section away from the bar/loud music if you want it. Good range of beers

It's a typical chainy Lloyds No. 1 which gets very busy and rowdy on a weekend when the lads and lasses from the surrounding villages come out to play. Not my cup of tea, but does what it does very well.

Typical Lloyds N0.1 bar. Not much to write home about.

The bishops mill is an ok bar for getting you in the mood, it's a big pub and reasonable prices. The bar staff are a bit slow especially on a weekend when it's really busy. Also when heading to the gala plaza (any of the bars) be warned take id as the doormen can be really strict bordering on ridiculous (i'm 30 and have been stopped a few times).

Large barn like place in a concrete carbuncle of a modern development. It is not a bad place for a drink although the whole Walkergate Leisure area where it's located can be very boisterous on a Saturday night. As my visit was during the Real Ale festival there was a good range of cask ales, all I tried were well kept. There is the usual range of kegs. One big room with several separated areas. There is a smaller slightly enclosed area with ecclesiastical style wood work where you can watch the weekend stag and hen parties doing their tricks.

Typical Lloyds No 1, well designed for a new build. As usual the guest beers are very limited but I've always been served a good pint here. Normally call in midweek so I don't know what it's like at weekends but I've always been able to get served on a Thursday when it's pretty busy.

nice pub, useless bar staff. Were unable to give me a fried egg as they could not find the "add" button on the till. They had run out of Kopparberg too ... Shambles.

Recommended this pub after a visit in April. Modern looking Wetherspoons. They are proud of their loos in this pub. Enjoyed the Grrene King Abbott Reserve at 6.5% here.
