Fairly busy on our recent midweek visit, staff efficient. I partook of Oliver Phillips 'Holy Roller' [U.S. craft beer, quite tasty] & Exmoor Gold [good pint, as usual].

Recently had a refurbishment, staff friendly & helpful. Beers I partook of included a Canadian beer 'Red Racer'[a pleasant ale], Kelham Island 'Pale Rider' [a hoppy & zesty ale], Exmoor 'Gold' [ pleasant pint], Enville Brewery 'Enville Ale [refreshing] & Enville Brewery 'Simpkiss Bitter [not to my liking].

Large Wetherspoons on the main street leading up from the bridge. It stretches back a fair way from the road. There is a small seating error at the front, with the bar beyond that. At the side is a conservatory and there is more seating at the rear. Toilets are upstairs. I'm told that floor was the old ballroom. It was a busy Sunday prior to Christmas on our visit, with every table taken, mostly with diners. Although there were still a fair number of drinkers in. Ales were Ruddles Best, Morland Old Speckled Hen, Sharps Doom Bar, Greene King Abbot, Everards Sudwerk, Hook Norton AFO, Bath Ales Festivity & Tetleys Christmas Cracker. Ciders were Westons Old Rosie & Mr Whiteheads Apples & Pears. A busy, fairly chaotic place. Typical Wetherspoons really. Plenty of staff meant that service was quick.

Deffo the best Witherspoons in the area, although as expected on a weekend it can take a while to be served. Good choice of guest beers, food is normal fare but good for the price.
Valentines Day offer 2010 was 14-99 for two steak meals and a bottle of Harveys wine....bargain!!

Called in just after New Year. Very good Wetherspoons pub, good selection of beers , but as usual only Abbot and two guest on. The rest coming soon! I will give it that it was just after Xmas and a week day, but could do better as my old teacher used to say.

Visited this Wetherspoons pub on a Thursday, once in the afternoon then early evening for a meal. The wood panelled bar area stretches quite a long way back and was busy in the afternoon with all ages eating and drinking. I found the young staff more interested in acting silly amongst themselves than serving customers.. Four real ale pumps, with three in action and one settling. The Pedigree tasted good and refreshing.
Returned in the evening for Curry Night. The place quickly became filled with all types and ages and curry of all types was flying out the kitchen door and very good it was.
The difference in staff was amazing. This lot kept themselves busy attending to customers. Tables were cleared faster than at any other Spoons I have been in .The age of the place and number of tables gives it a cramped feeling and probably some customers were disappointed in not getting a seat.
A good effort but if you want to eat get there early.
