user reviews of the Junction, Redhill

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Only pub in the Redhill area with all the TV sport - on 3 large screens. Town centre location, with small beer garden, and excellent Thai food. Close to station - with efficient and friendly staff.
croydonpeer - 12 Aug 2019 16:54
Yes it has certainly gone up-market (down was not an option anyway) with a decent pint and very good Thai grub now on offer.
lynx - 13 Nov 2018 17:40
Now, an excellent establishment selling good beers, wine - and top class Thai food.

Also showing Sky Sports live - and the friendly staff are well organised by Millie, the efficient and charasmatic bar manager.

Only one of two pubs left in central Redhill, where there were many.

wealdman - 29 Oct 2018 14:23
Run by amateurs - and only making a living because it's the only opposition to the nearby Wetherspoons. The other town centre pubs - the Abbott and the Eagle - have closed.

Service is slow, with untrained staff. Hygiene standards are suspect, and prices are dramatically higher than The Sun - which is open 4 hours earlier, at 8am.

tradervic - 28 May 2018 17:26
Terrible place. Untrained staff and new junior managers all the time.

Needs major facelift badly. Worst in Redhill !

Upstairs only used for toilet access.

Hygiene standards low - like the beer.

Good that there'd no food...

Slerpy - great that you've stopped reviewing pubs.

Pity that you're a bitter old man, reduced to insults.
tradervic - 13 Nov 2016 16:42
Closed - on Sundays... They saw you coming and don't suffer fools,a good move on their part.
slerpy - 13 Nov 2016 16:31
Closed - on Sundays...
tradervic - 13 Nov 2016 16:21
Awful place, and badly run. This place has changed hands, more often than my feet.

Different owners/pubcos, with no brains.

With a market outside the door, most days.

Needs investment - and who would do that?

The busiest Wetherspoon in Surrey is 300 yards away...

Passable and perfectly pleasant pub, theoretically benefiting from much passing trade bang in the centre of Redhill. However, I fear it doesn't quite yield the custom it perhaps should or could despite its competititve position. Part of t his is because certain improvements could arguably be made to their offer, but whether local clientele would appreciate that enough to start using the place more, I don't know.

On the plus side though, there are a couple of acceptably-kept cask beers, albeit pretty standard choices (St Austell's Tribute has been sampled lately on decent form and not too shabby price-wise at £3.60), with the predictable range of most other global keg beers, ciders and so forth. The real lure here is live music nights, and while the quality of the acts may vary, the pub does a good job in trying to expand their appeal by having regular - and well-attended - events.

Been in The Junction for a drink and spot of food couple of time now.
You have to try there PAD THAI (CHICKEN or PRAWN), it's so nice and the potion size is just great my wife couldn't finish hers.
The leave of service is outstanding being warm and inviting, the pub is being run by Burmese family who cook all the food.
By what I saw very popular at lunch with local offices, so that tells you something good.
Best pub in Redhill town centre
neolawspirit - 27 Feb 2015 09:05
Great pub - good food at a good price combined with friendly service. Good choice of beers too.
nicecoldbeer - 29 Jan 2015 16:06
I heard that the new managers were a couple of Thai chaps, presumably trying to make that bizarre 'Thai restaurant-cum-English pub' concept work. Locally, that only worked at the White Lion, and even then I think they've called it a day just recently.

If you can't get passing trade to prop you up here, bang in the centre of a town, where can you? Shows the inherent limitations of Redhill sadly.
Gamboozler - 9 May 2014 12:31
In there today, not impressed. Bit like a club for the heavily tattooed governor's mates. Think he's doing his best - but will have to do better.
croydonpeer - 22 Apr 2014 23:40
Now under new management. It can only get better. Can't it?
tempest - 21 Mar 2014 13:10
Sadly this pub seems to think it is above its Redhill location - its not. Kevin used to be a great landlord but he has lost interest in it and unfortunately the pub suffers because of it.........................
howzat - 7 Aug 2013 11:34
For sale sign on the pub.
wealdman - 9 Jun 2013 19:06
The bald barman has had a personality bypass - a very sucessful one.....
wealdman - 28 May 2013 16:05
For a fine buliding in a prime position, this pub is sad. No effort is made and the place seems to be run by two middle-aged bores, one of whom can be quiet loud.
blackgander - 6 Mar 2013 13:51
No wonder....so few comments. Even with the two nearby pubs closed (Dog & Duck, Abbot) - this place is still empty! Very poor management and staff......
randolf7 - 25 Feb 2013 21:57
After work - 5ish; we go in sometimes. A bored asian lady serves us. Often wonder why we bother. The only plus is daily newspapers and the pub's central location.Pity.
tempest - 30 Oct 2012 23:39
Yet another big echoy, soulless pub in the mode of all other recently refurbished pubs. The ale (Greene King) is perfectly good and the service was fine too. Pricey though.

I am told the food is good but I didn't try it so I can't say.

gareth1011 - 3 Aug 2011 08:46
Smells of lillies
redfive - 13 Aug 2010 08:54
It can feel pretty empty mid-week (particularly if you're upstairs) but has a good wine and beer selection and the Thai food is awesome!
Lara500 - 12 May 2009 23:22
Same as last poster. The place is closed on a Sunday night/afternoon. Might be a good idea to display their hours.
mandraker - 5 May 2009 14:31
Tried to go for a pint here yesterday (about 6pm on Sunday). Place was shut - no signs or opening times.
blackgander - 6 Apr 2009 10:42
If only a small amount of money spent on the refurbishment of this pub should have been put into staff training. Shame really as it could be the only good pub in redhill !
sydney - 23 Jan 2009 19:28
Since re -opening about three weeks ago, this pubs seems to have had unusual hours. Does anyone know why ? For example, does it not open on Sunday nights ? (I could see why it might not - a very quiet time in central Redhill).
leftfield - 18 Nov 2008 20:54
Tried to go in on Sunday about 5.45pm - but the place was shut.
paladian - 18 Nov 2008 14:43
Simple idea. Prices up - chavs go elsewhere.

Good start, with good food.
simwilliams - 5 Nov 2008 16:12

ALLPORTSKI1I - 27 Oct 2008 20:03
Redhill already has a top notch pub - The Garland. Not THAT far from the centre...
pipsby - 23 Oct 2008 14:16
Looks fantastic. A good pub in Redhill at last ? Hope so.
paladian - 23 Oct 2008 13:38
Excellent refurbishment. If they get the menu right - this best located pub (bang in the middle of Redhill) will do well, catering for those of us who visit the nearby Belfry Shopping Centre as well as the locals and 1000's of office workers .
leftfield - 23 Oct 2008 11:31
The Junction reopened last evening - now run by a new company and management. The new decor/furnishings are first class and the future augurs well.

But please keep standards high - otherwise The Juction will rejoin its mate (Dog and Duck) down the High Street, as contenders for Surrey's 'Worst Pub of the Year'.

Its only a matter of time (hours!) before the D&D's clientele descend on you..... Good luck. Redhill could do with a decent pub; I hope its yours.

simwilliams - 23 Oct 2008 10:51
The telephone number listed here is for another business. Also the other number I found online is not in use (01737 769298). I'm afraid I can't find the right one.
notyourbob - 23 Oct 2008 10:34
Yes rpadam - the Junction management can't run a pub OR a website. This place (and the Dog and Duck a few hundred yards away) are a good example of why c40 pubs are closing every week in the UK. They fail under every heading - but mainly the lack of interest and effort. The Junction is closed for refurbishment !
paladian - 7 Oct 2008 10:33
This is my review from June 2008 which somehow got removed from BITE: "This quote is taken verbatim from The Junction's website: "The Junction at Redhill offers the highest quality of [PRODUCTS / SERVICES] on the market today. Since [FOUNDED], we have provided superior service to our customers and have assisted them in achieving their goals. Our [2007S] of experience and commitment to excellence have earned us the reputation as the best [INDUSTRY TYPE] in the area." This probably tells you as much as you need to know about the care and attention to detail in this place. Actually, it is slightly better than it was last year, but still no real ale."
rpadam - 6 Oct 2008 21:16
This place was closed today.
leftfield - 6 Oct 2008 19:45
Awful place - poor staff, hygiene and everything else. Avoid.
paladian - 6 Oct 2008 08:53
Comments on the Dog and Duck would aslo apply to The Junction, although the latter makes an effort on food. Numerous management changes tell the story; it was a Hob Goglin, an O'Neils - now its nothing really.
frosjadson - 29 Sep 2008 10:43
