Popped in here for a quick one on the way back to town after football at Tonbridge Angels FC.

Open plan with a seating area to the right as you enter, the pub was extremely busy with almost all of the clientele being blokes. 2 pool tables in the top part of the pub and football on the every television…which is at least 5 tv’s!

5 hand pumps with 5 ales, the Harvey's Sussex Best was alright and drinkable but not the best kept Sussex Best I’ve ever had.

Decent enough pub but felt very male orientated and therefore 1 drink was enough before moving on.

I wandered in here with some mates recently and it was a mistake. I can understand why some would like it, even love it, but sorry it's just not for me (or my mates). I don't want to be bombarded with umptynine TV screens, jukeboxes blasting and others crashing away on a pool table. Beer was ok but............

Will miss this pub, having now moved away. Great beer, good food and wonderful friends!

By far the best drinking establishment in town. The landlord is friendly and provides a warm welcome and runs the pub very well. the pub has numerous tvs for sports fans, 2 pool tables and 2 dart boards. a wide range of drinks and snacks are available. There really is no better place to watch a big game, the atmosphere is superb on a match day, especially england games. Just a superb pub that caters for everyone.

the george and dragon in tonbridge great family pub nice. beer garden, 2 pool tables (cheapest in tonbridge) dart boards, live sport on the 5 tv's nice smoking area, juke box, disco's & live music (coupe de ville) ect. Great 2 c that the new landlord has keeped up the standered of the former landlord who raised alot of money 4 various charitys. ive read other reviews of the g&d all good apart from willy_wonty who must have a pub of his own because his slags off every other pub who could put him out of business ? either that or has 2 much time on his hands?

This pub is by far the best public house in Tonbridge! The staff are friendly, the regulars are always on form and welcoming and the sport coverage is second to none!
The new landlord is a good addition to the pub and has bought something new and exciting to an already fantastic pub!
I dont like to see personal attacks on individuals on this site especially towards people you have never taken the common desency to get to know before you slander them! (Willy_Wonty) If you don't like the pub be more specific as to why but coming on here and being immature is not on! Just remember your tiny insignificant view if far outweighed by the loyal masses who turn out in force every single week to spend their hard earned money in an obviously thriving watering hole!! As for getting licenses to run a business like this.....thats between the council and him and has no bearing on anything! If you dont like the pub then the G+D can't be for everybody but at least try and be objective/constructive when you comment on something!

Seems Willy Wonty needs to drink in spoons where no one will talk to them - coz they have nothing of interest to say!
The G&D is an old school public house that has charm and character, unlike a great deal of places in Tonbridge these days. The fact you can have a good beer, listen to the Jukebox, play pool, darts and chat to the staff all while watching the big sports games is great.
As for past and present landlords - they have all made you feel a lot more welcome in their establishments than the rest of the pubs in Tonbridge, where your local landlord is usually 20 yrs old and too busy chatting up his/her clients to notice you'd like another drink.

Well I was wrong. The new guy is even worse than the old one! A total ignoramus - I am amazed someone like this could be granted a licence.

I wish them the best and hope he can make it work somehow but I for one will not be rushing back again.

Could be a great little pub were it not for the arrogant, unintelligent and obnoxious landlord. A few of the locals told me he is leaving later in the year (after trying to cream off a little more cash during the world cup!) and that they can't wait to see the back of him. Once he has left I will definitely go back because I think this could be a cracker.

Fairly basic, but well-run, pub. The interior has been opened out to give a reasonable amount of space which includes two pool tables in a long weatherboarded extension. Lots of television screens for the sports fans, and a beer garden out back. Two handpumps, offering Bombardier and an excellent pint of Harveys at 2.85.

Excellent pub. Darren keeps his beer really well and the atmosphere is lively. Best place in town to watch a big game, and a good boozer for a quiet pint in the evening.

Not a bad pub. Friendly staff and beer was good. Still struggles a little to live up to the glory days of the legendary Frank
