Good Victorian pub, not as bad as it first seems from outside. Good spot for a friendly pint and watching the racing. One of the few pubs in the area full of real peopl. Friendly managment, great service and cheap.

rude, abusive and aggressive bar maids who look like the back ends of dumper trucs,k and have the figures to match. will never drink in there again. such a shame as the landlord and his partner are very nice... sack the shrek a likes and get some decent women or men in who don't look like they can go 10 rounds in the ring with tyson, and maybe then you'll get some new custom !! will ensure all my friends drink elseweher in future... am disgusted with the way i was treated. spomeone should sack the lot of them

Used to be in here a lot in the 90s playing pool and pinball. Can`t say it`s changed all that much, two less pool tables and a little brighter. Beer is cheap and there were lots of promos on.

Has really come along since I first moved to the area 3 years ago - would not have set foot in there before - but now its really vibrant, great food, great beer and so cheap - great to watch the football or play some pool.....

Much improved in recent times. Passable ale and cheap and cheerful food. A good place to watch football or have a game of pool.

Good to see a fairly unspoilt Victotian bar (I didn't go in the lounge as the football was on). Even more impressed by the beer - 1.98 for Youngs bitter - it was on great form. I will return.

This place has completely turned around in the last year. Was a dive, now vibrant and friendly. The best news is that they finally have real ale (Youngs and Fullers). Easily the best pub in E17.

Went in there for the 2-4-1 all day breakfast and was delighted. Food was delicious and atmosphere friendly. Will definitely go back there again.

Great pub, Great atmosphere, mainly attracts the same crowd of people though, all locals

Why is this the only Walthamstow pub on this site accompanied with a picture??
I took photos of all the pubs in Walthamstow a few weeks ago but can't seem to upload them.
Any tips?

Very large pub with not much going on to fill the space. a few regulars hanging around the bar area seems friendly enough. had one drink in side the huge open space and felt like everyone was staring.

Vastly improved of late - now has a good community-local atmosphere, friendly welcome, food menu and - surprise surprise - real ale reinstalled after many years absence (Fullers London Pride - only 2 10 a pint too). A very welcome addition to an area very badly off for decent (or indeed any) pubs.

When I lived across the road (2004-2005) this was a cracking pub. Now its a hovel.

nice local, fairly chilled and good place to have a chat with friends....friday kakeoke very entertaining and old locals very welcoming.....has to be said though...too many eastern european girls with no manners behind bar and note to the management at least three of them ask every time if shiraz is red or white wine and then promptly give you the wrong one...maybe some training is in order...?

A friendly cavernous place on a big junction. Not a bad choice, and one of the better pubs in Walthamstow.

Moved to the area pleased to see a local nearby, went there the once and never again, bar maids my look good only after 10 pints of woman improver and certainly havent got even a close grasp of the English language. Decor is shabby to say the least and has the atmosphere of a dentists waiting room.

One of those pubs where the totty behind the bar thinks she's god's gift, and throws your change on the counter rather than in your hand. Bitch. Beer is crap too. Walthamstow is full of shite, rough pubs.
cider_murray - 9 Jun 2006 15:18
Am taking a couple of points off as the customer service has gone downhill steeply recently. Bar staff change regularly, and some are downright rude for no real reason. I now try and avoid going as much as I can, which isn't how you wish your local to be.
Steve_D - 14 Mar 2006 17:50
Rough! That just about sums it up. The beer, the customers and just about everything else

When I first moved to W/stow in 1998 this was a decent comfy local with real ale, then they tarted it up and went keg-only. It's only a short walk from my house and I never go in there now; says it all I think.

I've drank in this pub for years, it's a friendly local boozer with a great pool and music facilities and a karaoke every FRIDAY.....Who needs real ale when you got a great atmosphere!!!!!!!
Luv4Pubs - 22 Jun 2005 16:28
What's the point of a pub with no real ale?
Not a pleasant place to while away the time.

i went to this pub recently and met a bar maid from the usa, she was very friendly but she had a friend working there as well, i think her name was marie, she is gorgeous and i fancy her rotten, anyone know her email? i wanna snog her face off xxx

Being American, this pub was our home away from home. Super friendly staff and regulars, good prices and we were always made welcome at the Lord P. Sort of a British "Cheers". Karen is one of barstaff from the States by the way.

Nice, spacious pub. Good beer, not bad prices, friendly staff and lots of live entertainment, quizzes, live sport, etc. Only problem is the amount of 15 year olds who hang out there but they're no trouble. A good place to stop for a pint or two.

The Palmy has a large function room upstairs with a bar, it has live music on a saturday and darts in the public bar, four pool tables, large screen tv for sports and a beer garden, seating ares out the front of the pub.
