please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Service very slow. One couple walked out in disgust, after waiting 20 minutes for a food order to be taken!
Staff seemed to go missing for long periods during the lunchtime service.
The standard of housekeeping leaves much to be desired, with floors unswept and dtrty.
The food was good, but aimed at the tourist trade.

have to agree. tried the seafood bar and nothing fresh in the seafood line, only fish. the seafood starters all straight out of a jar. service slow and uncaring - had to ask for a drink twice then remind them about it. such a shame as we were really looking forward to some nice fresh shellfish.

In a word - Detritus. For a hotel bar, it used to have a nice little layout. The booze was never kept well however. Boddingtons and Flowers that both tended to taste more of balsamic vinegar than booze.
Recently, (the past year or so) the bar has had an over haul for the worst. Like the comments below, its now in a small box area - emphasis on this place is food. That's where the money is if you want to fork out on overpriced rubbish. Booze wise, its a sorry state of affairs. Its somewhere I try not to go into these days. Like alot of the places in Lymington high street, its catering to a sailor money orientated clientelle. Stuff the locals is the ethic here.

Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear; Its all gone to cock. Bar moved into a cupboard, poor selection, OK for eatery but not as a bar; sorry - whats worse is that it has been sold to a chain

Is it really a year since I went into Stanwells - sorry Mark - interior improved, staff very helpful, booze OK and food excellent. Had a very confusing conversation with a (tired and emotional) young lady who insisted she knew me from my time living in Cheltenham - never been there sweety.

as no other bugger has written anything about Stanwells I will. Not a pub but a Bar. Beer is OK.....but it is a venue and not a boozer. Saturday evening yachtie "lookatme" girls fill the place en route for other less expensive bars. The Bistro is good and the quality of food never misses a step.
