Poor. Back in the day it used to be quite a good 'pub' - pub being the word here. Nowadays the emphasis is on food. Its more restaurant than pub and that's a shame. The bar area is pretty much the same as when it was the Old English Gentleman and more recently The Black Cat, but the rest...blah. It looks like a layout from Habitat or MFI. Pouncy chairs and sofas. I think their preferred customers are weatlthy people with alot of money to spend on Thai food. And that's one of the problems with Lymington pubs in particular. So many have gone for the posh refit, serve food policy and 'two fingers at the locals'. I stopped going in The Fusion in early 2005. The staff at the time were rude. Nothing outstanding about the ales either if you're an ale person. If you want a decent pub atmosphere don't go here. Head down the high street or better still out of the High Street. In a word - rubbish.

Went there for the first time the other day. Not much atmosphere but the food (Thai/Chinese) was pretty good. It was a good job they were'nt busy as only two staff were on and they seemed to disappear out the back quite often so getting served was a bit of a mission. Only one real ale on sale (Ringwood). Bit disappointing overall.

Black Cat it will always be. Legend. Bit odd these days. Doesnt know if its a bistro or a pub. probably just biased as I have fond memories of it being BC.

BC forever.

i think this pub is crap, the atmosphere is horrible the people who own and run it are horrible and rude.and discriminating.refusing to c my id saying that i barely even looked 18 when im 21,saying that id means nothing, that basically becasue i am a small individual they refused to let me in and then let in ppl who were younger then me.i would suggest if i try and get in this pub doesnt matter about age,u just need to wear the most skinpiest outfit u own and youl be fine.dont bother bringing id cuz they wont check it and be prepared to get groped by ugly old drunk men

Taken up a notch since it's become the fusion. No longer the 'scum penno' frequenting here! Low ceilings, nice beer, dark, dank. Look out for the locals in here!

Never went there in the Black Cat days but was in recently and found it to be a bit bland. Aussie bar staff which is something of a rarity for Lymington. (I think)

better as the Cat. Fusion is a themed pub - boring

Great bar, fantastic staff, wonderful atmosphere. Might seem a little stand off-ish from the age limit (21s and over) and the dress code (smart casual) but it's still one of, if not THE best pubs in lymington. Well worth a trip.
