Small corner local tucked away near Farringdon Road with faux Victorian fittings. Three hand pumps, one with GK IPA the others with microbrewery beers - Windsor & Eton on my visit.. On pouring my beer the landlord poured away the top quarter and refilled as it had been in the pipes awhile. I hadn't seen anything like this for thirty years. Needless to say it was a perfect pint! There's also a range of craft beers in bottles and cans. Does food but I did not try it. Well worth a visit.

I first started drinking in this pub in 1978. It has seen a change of ownership and a tasteful refurb since those days, and I have also moved on (to Edinburgh) but this is still my go-to pub when I return to London. Beer is excellent, food is top notch, and as has already been said the service is quick and friendly. An old school pub of the best kind. - Ray.

I believe this is my father's birthplace, I have a photo of my grandmother at the doorway probably around 1910 when it was the family shop and not yet a pub. The road was then called Cross St.-Allen St. Mr Father's name was Chapman and my grandmother's maiden name wasWithers. Strange thing was I used to shop for watch and clock materials very close by without knowing my connection to the area.

A quality little boozer of the old-school. Landlord a decent sort.

I agree with the comments about the pleasant ambience and friendliness of this traditional pub. Be warned that the price of a pint is very high. Nearly 8 for two pints of Landlord.

Judging by its average rating and the below reviews, this pub obviously has a keen local following and after a recent visit I could see why. It's a fairly small, single-roomed pub, tucked off a side street north of Clerkenwell Road. It initially appears fairly unprepossessing, but I think its down-to-earthness is a great strength in an area with a fair amount of trendified gastropubs. Three real ales when I visited, although I'm afraid I only noted TT Landlord and a guest ale, and can't remember the others. Service was notably good and efficient, and what I presume to be the landlord was bustling round the pub in very friendly fashion and clearly on good terms with his locals. A pleasure to visit this one, and I shall be back.

Really liked this little pub. Good beer, the chips were cheap as ... well, chips and the girl behind the bar insisted on helping me take the beers outside even though I'd only ordered three! How lovely. I'll be back.

Best pub in the area. Mick the landlord is the star of the show. Good selection of beer and 3 casque ales. Beware of the mad German bloke who's always in there.

This is indeed a great pub and the landlord is mint but do watch out for the Keogh
he will leave you within an inch of your sanity..

A great pub with some colourful and entertaining characters. Don't get chatting to Mr Keogh who usually frequents the end of the downstairs bar though, he's a crazy man with some wild stories- and they are mostly to do with the downstairs bar. Buy him a Guinness and 9 times out of 10 he'll leave you be.

Landlord an Arsenal fan but don't hold that against him, he's the finest in all of Clerkenwell.

This is a great traditional pub. Each time I have been there the bar staff have been great, the beer good and food reasonable. By far the best proper pub in the area.

Used to be a bit smoky but this wont be a problem any more.
