Bland GK chain pub where loose bints can take their benefit brats. They had IPA, Abbot and Ruddles Best on. The Ruddles was tinny and not particularly nice.

Well the Crick's does look lush from the outside. The inside has also been changed slightly too, and looks a lot better, more room and the ladies have finally got the tiled floor that was needed.
The staff are really good especially Mike and Chris. 2 of the best!!
Getting really busy at the weekends and a lot less undezirables coming in, maybe to posh for them now, shame!!!
If you haven't been in for a long time, then pop your head in for a pint. If you don't like busy then do it in the week.
No more darts board which is a blessing.
A great pub, warm welcome and the food is getting better.

Full of sluts with belts for skirts if you're looking to get your nuts in one night; just be careful her yobbo boyfriend isn't about though or the bouncers outside may have to intervene. Takes quarter of an hour at best to get served your choice of cheap chavvy lagers. Would recommend to any old pervo's who like to play darts.

Well the Cricks in Rainham have done it again. The only pub I know of in Rainham with sky sports 3D. Great atmosphere, getting busier at weekends and the staff are all still fab!
Rumour has it they are getting a marquee out the back on the decking and having a TV out there for the FA Cup.
Food still good. Different beer is on specials as well when the footie is on at 1.99 a pint from kick off.

Well I think it's fab.
It's about time we had a decent pub in Rainham, well actually the only one in Rainham.
It's doing really well, the choice of drinks is brill, and the food is great. Not boil in the bag type, unless you are going to the wrong Cricketers.
No tracksuit bottoms or vest tops! Hurray about time. There are nice ones and chavy ones, which most people wear the chavy to short and to tight chavy ones. Chav's are no longer in the Cricks, or if they are they are at least hidden up.
All ages welcome and it's a great atmosphere had by all.

The pub has lost a great deal of character with the refurbishment.

Previously, it had events such as karaoke and live sport etc. and now it has been transformed into something resembling an upmarket Wetherspoons. The decor is undoubtably better but very manufactured and out of place.

It's still very noisy and overcrowded - a problem that will be less likely to be resolved with the much smaller interior. The staff are friendly and there is rarely any problems inside or out as the doormen seem to know the pub and people well which is a very refreshing change.

The main problem is that it has become a pub which isn't worth going out of your way for. It doesn't have a real identity anymore - quiet pint? No, Good food? Cheap boil in the bag rubbish, Atmosphere? Not what it used to be by a long chalk Good beer? Same as virtually everywhere else.

The thing with the Cricketers is that there are few pubs in Rainham considering the size of the population who have money to spend and people tend to visit the pub because they can't be bothered to venture out further and want an easy option, hence, it is always busy but has little else going for it.

My advice : take the train and find a better town with better pubs.

Apart from the fact that the music is a bit 'pseudo-light-jazz' (Michael Buble? Not only once, but twice. And in fifteen minutes!), it's improved a hell of a lot. It's no longer a warehouse with a bar; it's comfortable and you can sit with somebody and hear them without having to scream over the football and the people who watch football.

Cheerful staff, decent beer, pleasant (for Medway) surroundings.

Much improved, but I still only had two pints here and then went to the Men of Kent...

Well I think it's fab, and the best pub around. Kentbeerboys and the chavs we don't want here, so stay at the Wonky Donkey or the Hop & Vine. The food is fab, the place is fab and so are the people. Football is not the end of the world. Watch it at home, surely nearly everyone has Sky at home! They are going to show the big matches on the large screens, and also the not so important matches but the sound will be off for them ones. Obviously you all new Craig that well, considering he hasn't worked there since it shut down. Never mind at least you got one name right. The crowds are still rolling in and will carry on doing so. Well done to all the staff for making it a place to be. More girls are going in now which is great, not all men at last.

My fears have been confirmed!

This pub does not seem to want money from those of us who enjoy a pint and some footy. They seem to be reaching out to the middle-class knobs, and the wannabe middle-class knobs with their refurb.

It is trying to compete with the manor farm for food custom, but who in the right mind would rather eat here?

The pub is not set up to watch footy, as the TV's are smaller and you have to stand watching it in front to rupert and camilla who have popped in after a hard day in the city for a succulent Lancashire Hotpot Ring! Ooh suits you sir! In the old days this pub would have had sport on in the background, but yesterday despite being called 'The Cricketers' they did not bother to put the England cricket match on. One of the few attractions of this place in the past has been the sport and without that its nothing.

Good to see that Gary and Craig are still working behind the bar as these two know how to look after customers, although the now smaller bar that they have to work behind will suit the much smaller crowds that will venture in.

Speaking of crowds I wonder what they will do in the bleak mid-winter when the toffs can't be bothered to venture out and the beer garden has no appeal. In the past this is when the only people using this place have been sports fans, mainly football. I wonder if they will be a bit more willing to cater for our needs then? Well if they are they can ask us nicely as we will be across the road in the Wonkey Donkey or down in the Slop and Swine!

This pub is a Chav fest. Once it was for everyone, had a fireplace, cosy quiz night.

THEN around 6 years ago it started opening/bashing down walls etc, knocking down fireplaces and painting the walls white.

Once, if you wanted a pint and a bloody nose, you could go over the road to the White Horse. Now the Cricketers provides all the violence you need. Complete with doormen!

I hear it is closed for refit, which will be great as there is an afluent population in Rainham and Wigmore who have nowhere to go but the Manor Farm (Beefeater, groan)

The rumours that Sky TV will be taken away is great news, especially if it disperses the Chavs. Perhaps they will go back over the road to the White Horse. Fingers Crossed!

This place is currently shut for a refurb' and expected to re-open by the end of June. Apparently they are having the Sky Sports taken out which will kill the place off, as that is the only reason for using this pub for me and my mates.

Rumours are that it will be a bit ponsy and have sofas all around the place. If thats he case they have had the last of my money.

We'll just have to wait and see though won't we!

Bit of a chav pub, so not my type of place really, but most probably the best place to go in Rainham, my advice if u can hop on the train and go elsewhere. Drinks are expensive the place gets rammed, my mate used to work there and I didn't even visit lol!

The cricketers is the place to be in rainham! ive been working there as a barmaid/waitress for 2 years now and love it. Mainly because of the customers :-) it has gone down hill a bit and beer has gone up and staff aren't allowed to take tips or drinks off customers anymore which stinks but its still like a second home :-)

Large Green King pub. Popular with the young. Has felt rather untidy and run down for some years now. Sprawling space inside is functional rather than attractive or cosy.
SilkTork - 24 Dec 2005 16:03
a young pub...not for a quite friday, saturday,or sunday night drink....on those nights entrance controled by bouncers...not a family dinning pub to full of its self....a style house ..."the place to be "
sigtech - 20 Jun 2005 09:16
Is alcohol really that expensive here? Or is that compared to London prices? Just out of interest :)
Briony - 13 May 2004 15:57
Could be better! alcohol too expensive and needs more female bar staff
Ben - 28 Feb 2004 16:16
Wicked pub the best in Medway. It has been voted Greene King pub of the year for the last two years in the uk.
