Textbook London style boozer with Pearly King sign and mural to book. Lovely drop of London Pride, spacious bar, darts and football on but in a specific area. I didn't try the food but it appeared to be traditional menu. I wish more pubs would be like this place.

2nd pub in the area on a Wednesday night, the Bow Bells is a million times better and friendlier than the Little Driver.

The Wednesday night quiz was in full flow on this visit. The pub was very busy but not everyone was involved in the quiz.

3 ales on tap which were Fullers London Pride, Sharps Doom Bar and Shepherd & Neame Spitfire. I went for a couple of pints of Doom Bar & it was very good.

A good bottle selection in the fridge however most are available in local supermarkets.

Quick service at the bar, good selection of ales, a proper pub that has survived without going all foodie all in all this is a very decent pub.

Recently moved to the area , having driven past this pub I thought I'd give it a crack , been in at various times of day and can't really fault it , bit pricey but does for a quick point

A real, high quality East End local. Beautiful, traditional interior combined with well kept beers. Friendly staff who are keen to make people at home mean that this is a diamond in the rough. Seems to have a nice mix of regulars, with trendy young things mixing with East End's finest. Definitely worth a look in!

Went in on a Saturday night. Good pint of Black Sheep, very well kept. Also had London Pride and Landlord on - didn't try those, but assume they were equally well kept. Would be good to see some more adventurous beers on. Also have a pool table, so thumbs up for that in my book!

Stopped in there last night with our Morris team. Cracking pub. Very good pint of Porter and the others ales looked on top form too. Will definitely go back when in the area.

I Came in Friday night with my mate, to watch Spurs vs Watford Game, and to my disappointment the TV was on mute and music on too loud.

When I asked about volume for the game, I was told Music takes priority over sport. Seemed bit silly, why would you pay so much for Sky TV, and not be bothered to show it. We ended up leaving and watched game in the Coborn.

Staff seemed to have an attitude problem, dont bother putting big games on if not going to be shown with commentary.

Visited last weekend with my wife whose Dad hails from the area. Very friendly, young, landlord who knows how to run a good, traditional, boozer. Remarkable. Good pint of Black Sheep too. We wish him every success and we will return.

Under new management. I have sampled "Essex Pale Ale" several time. Excellent.

New regime trying to get better draught beers on. It's a good pub, give it a chance.

Havent been in the pub for a while and looks like some changes have been made, the old man has retired and it now seems his son is running the pub.

I had pint of youngs London Gold which was in good form and reasonable at 2.80. It was nice to see a good pub in bow.. I hope they keep it up!

I see that the pubs lease has finally been sold after a very long time on the market, wonder what will happen to the old pub....

Friendly fast service but expensive. 3.30 for Carlsberg. Just a locals boozer, not many left in Bow

was in this pub yesterday, was a great atmopshere with friendly locals.

decent traditional boozer decor and layout. nothing pretentious or winebar like.

the lady barmaid was friendly and serivce was good.

a really decent proper pub. will come again when back in the area.

they were showing football in 3d, which was a bit wierd walking in to see half the pub looking as if they were wearing sunglasses for blind people. ha ha

Rather overpriced local pub that maintains a good ambiance. the decor is dingy though and the place would benefit from a face lift.

Very impressed with this lovely pub. Good location with many friendly locals who made me feel welcome. Juke box needs updating but overall a great feel to the whole place. Aussie or Kiwi (sorry - couldn't pinpoint accent??) barman was very helpful and friendly even though the pub was packed with customers. Great atmosphere on a friday night and very entertaining quiz on a Wednesday. I definitely intend to come back.

The John Bonser roadshow reached this pub yesterday. Given its location, I'm surprised it hasn't had more postings. Yes, it's a nice traditional local, well worth popping into if in the area.

Note in particular the framed old Ind Coope price list dated 1971 and a framed picture of Bobby Moore also. The cannon logo outside on what remains of the pub sign is the old Taylor Walker logo for those who don't know. The beer range is unexceptional - but the London Pride was on good form, if a little pricey for the area probably at 2.80.

Sorry to end on a critical note, but the person who arranged to have the exterior painted bright orange - see the picture here - should be subjected to continuous unbroken community service until he has seen the error of his ways.

When my wife and I were looking at buying a flat in the area we thought wed try out the local pub for quick drink. We were soon got into conversation with the very friendly locals and Colin the landlord and the bar staff and left at 11pm. We ended up moving into the area and now this is our local pub and we are regulars. We know almost everyone in the pub now, but the place is still very welcoming to the new punters as it was to us.

The is a sign on the outside of the pub saying that youll get a traditional East End welcome and you really do. Theyve also fixed the light problem so the place has a nice warm feel. We got the Elvis (Tony Andreas) to come to our wedding down in Kent to do a surprise hour stint. It went down very well with young and old alike.

Anyway great pub to have as a local and heartily recommend it if youre passing or live nearby.

I live five minutes away from here, and this is the best proper pub for miles, managing to avoid compleetly the over-price, over styled crud you get in Docklands, but without descending into the quagmire of East London hell holes.

Just make sure you don't need the loo, the Gents look like they haven't been wiped down in a decade.

This used to be my local. It's a great pub - locals who don't give you any aggro, a pool table that would be better used as a ski slope, good beer and a ghost in the ladies toilets. What more could you want?

Bright it may be but we managed to hide from some madman (from another pub, I hasten to add)in the seats under the window. Full of friendly locals. On another occasion we were forced to leave by Elvis. Dire.

I would love to go to this pub. It is right at the end of my street. One problem: It is way too bright. Full of 2000watt bulbs that give you a headache - If they toned it down the place would do a bomb, but as it stands it resembles a operating theatre with blinding foglights peeling off the skin of your eyeballs.
Damn shame!

A mix of old and New East End!!

Great Real Ales, with a guest ale for 1.70 each week

And the Best Elvis Night in the East End, on the Last Saturday of the Month
