The Catford Bridge Tavern is situated just outside Catford Bridge station and has now re-opened. The new owners seem keen to give this venture a good go and they also seem to be encouraging real ale. The interior has two large rooms. I sat at the bar in the front room. 3 ales were on. I opted for the Southwark Maltby Street Mild. Sadly the beer was well past its best and undrinkable. So I returned it. The barmaid called over the manager to check that I was correct and one sniff of the beer was all he needed! On the positive side, it was then replaced with Brockley Red Ale without any fuss and the manager was quick to prepare another dark beer to replace the mild. The third option was Hop Stuff Fusilier. Whilst I was not impressed with my initial choice, beer can often go off and I was encouraged by the service recovery. The pub is advertising a beer festival and may well need to up its game to make that a success. But I sincerely hope they succeed, as I'll certainly be back for another visit one day.

Antic moved out I think due to the increased rent, to the Catford Con Club. Shame after the campaign to save it. Then there was a mysterious fire. But now I understand returning to a pub again.

This is now a very good pub with a range of sometimes obscure ales. The food was also good even if the menu looks a little complicated. We went into the back room. There was a quiz. We did not win the quiz. We did not lose the quiz either. I believe it takes cojones to open a good pub in a rundown area like this. I do not know, said Santiago, but if there were going to be cojones on the menu anywhere they would be here. I understand what you say, said Nick, but if they were cojones they would be criadillas, for this is the word for the testicles of a bull. I stand by the word I originally used, said Santiago.

Ate here for the first time over the weekend having frequented the pub numerous times since its re-opening and was pleasantly delighted with the experience.
The large dining room is decorated in typical antics pubs fashion, with a mis match of furniture from a bygone era which gives the feel of a post war London.
The service was excellent - courteous and attentive without being over bearing. Our waitress explained that the new Spring/Summer menu had only been released the previous day and so she had not tried everything on it but gave sound advice on those that she had.
The food was quite simply excellent. I had the smoked ham hock terrine, with soda bread and chutney for starters, my gf had potted crab. Both were presented beautifully and tasted as good. for mains I had Trout fillet with mussels peas and cider cream sauce, whilst she had the pressed lamb shoulder with Jerusalem cous cous, again both were presented to a standard above their price and the waitress was handed back 2 empty plates from 2 satisfied diners.
Neither of us could manage desert, however the deserts being delivered to other tables looked so good that both of us will be ensuring we try them next time.
For �40 (without drinks) for 2 starters and 2 mains at this quality this is exceptional value and I highly recommend.

Fantastic pub - in 5 years of living nearby i've been out in Catford more in the last 2 months to this establishment than in the previous 5 years. For range and quality of beers i've been impressed on every visit - the two from the Ilckley brewery on my last visit (Medina and Siberia) were potent and lovely. Ruby hop cat (brewed specially for the pub) was a highlight of a previous visit. And the food is excellent (from bar snacks to more formal dining). And it's got bar billiards. I'll be back. Quite soon.

Visited last night quite late. Pub was quite busy. First time since re-development. Good selection of beer, although the Norfolk BK wasn't the best. I might return in the future but it wouldn't be a direct hit.

If you build it they will come. Catford has long needed a decent pub for decent people. The old Copperfield is dead and buried. Amen! The Catford Bridge Tavern is open for business.
A good mixture of cask and craft keg beers without any of the usual kiddy fizz training lagers. Kitchen yet to open but if the bar snacks are anything to go by its going to be good. Rammed on opening night which just goes to show that people want to go out to good destination pubs and won't put up with the filth, dross, and indifference served up in so many SE London boozers.

Massively changed since new ownership (now an Antic pub).
Great atmosphere, great ales, and the menu looks fantastic.
No more sky TV.

well.....Another fine place gone to the bottomless pit they call hell. Arrogant staff, rude customers and even worse karaoke.I do not know why this fine place has fell apart. I visited this bar years ago and it was really nice and everything was going for it

I really liked the jazz I saw here one Sunday. Very laid-back 50s-style jam. Not what I expect from Catford at all. Relaxed and fiendly. Sat outside under an awning to smoke and watch all Catford go by. For what that's worth.

What a complete dump its very very dirty staff are rude dinks extortionate going downhill rapidly another place that will probably be closed in 6 months full of dodgy characters horrible place

since the new owners took charge of this pub in the summer of 2007 it has become a joy to spend time here. the clientele are diverse and all friendly, the staff polite and helpful and the entertainment varied, very professional and enjoyable without being overbearing, whether it be karaoke, one of its many guest djs or the jazz sessions on sunday afternoons. it is also a great place to watch football without having drunk loud mouthed yobs to contend with.

The manageress was a foul mouthed horrible little woman,, refused to serve a poor guy who didn't say please.
The assistant manager sat in the bar with his feet on the table.It felt like I was in Nigeria.
The beer was terrible, the Guinness head was grey, obviously the lines had not been cleaned for months, dodgy dope smokers outside and cocaine sniffers in the toilet. Felt unsafe, visit for novelty value only,surprised the police haven't shut the place.

A good little boozer to watch Sky football. Never over crouded so you always seem to get a seat for the game. I like it for a Monday night game and a few pints

I used to come here before going to the now flattened dog track, so I've been in here a fair few times over the years and all in all it's a pretty good pub. Yeah, a few dodgy geezers about doing dodgy deals but this is a friendly atmospheric place and not as threatening as some new comers who don't know it might think. Used from time to time by South Londons various football tribes on match days but I've never seen any touble in here.

Brought in my family, asked for and received menus. Ten minutes later, after deciding on lunches for five, was told off-handedly that they won't serve minors.
The family operating the Ram was actually friendly. Nice change.

My local. Good for passing the time while waiting for the train or delaying going home. Pool table runs true and the competition is fierce but good spirited. Barras menu. Cheap drinks if that's what you are after or 'jacks' for those who aren't. Has it's share of dodgey geesa's and old timers in the corner but all in all a friendly bunch. To far out of town to attract the crowd that would make the pub 'go off' so to speak but i guess that's good for getting served at the bar. the sooner smoking is banned the better ........ or the a/c gets an overhall ........

The Copperfield is a great local. Wide range of tap beers and friendly staff. Reasonable prices and nice food. Big screen, pool table and good atmosphere. Alongside Catford and Catford Bridge overland stations.
