please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Very traditional interior and staff seem friendly enough
Sadly it has been virtually empty on the two occasions I have visited recently and one of those visits was at 9 on a Saturday night
Sadly a likely soon to be another lost pub thanks to Britain’s left wing politics

malo66 I agree 100% This is a gem of a pub. The only place in Hounslow for a man to pop into and have a pint after a hard days graft. Family friendly despite all the bad reputations it had and politics it carried 7-10 years ago. Nice too see a Fullers pub surviving Hounslow.

I have to agree with guv2. It is difficult for the pubs in this area to keep trading because the majority of locals are Indian and it seems that they prefer to drink at home (when they are not teetotallers). Fuller's have actually closed several pubs in the area due to lack of customers. I think the landlord (or manager?) is actually doing very well to keep this pub open.

Found out about this pub on Fullers website under "Pubs for sale". I've been looking to buy another pub and as it has a car park and ample space inside to serve food., i thought i'd take a look. The 1st thing i noticed in the car park was that about 6 spaces were full, a few vans. Got me thinking a few builders finish their day. Good trade i thought. Got inside and noone in there? No menus for food? The london pride was good but at 7.30pm on a tuesday, you would at least have a few meals served and a few beers being sold. I won't be trying to buy this pub. I reckon Fullers might need someone new running this place temporarily from the above comments. He's obviously killing it!

Serves a decent pint of Fullers London Pride and good home cooked food. Real ales are well under 3 pint. Does a BBQ/Hog Roast on St. Georges Day 23 April 2011. Good to see a Landlord striving to get this pub back to its former glory days.

went in this pub for the first time & what a lovely atmosphere it has,i didn't know anyone but was included in the conversations with the locals & the bar staff. Being of the older generation i find it hard to find a pub that i feel comfortable in but glad i tried this one with a mixture of people of all ages.

It is easily the best pub in Hounslow, just too expensive.
So it is a toss-up between mixing with the locals or drinking in a lovely pub and spending a small fortune.

by the way get Discovery on tap svp.

New landlady larger than life and a laugh that is so infectious you just have to join in, pub has all new furniture and fittings and london pride is excellent , new food menu is on show so will be interested to try out the traditional english food that is on offer .

This place has six ale pumps, four of which are Pride and the other two are ESB. There is also standard lager available and although I had to wait for him to appear behind the bar I found the barman/governor to be nice enough. The front bar is very small, but the back bar is a lot bigger and houses a pool table and plasma screen. There is also a small paved beer garden at the rear of the pub.

Even though the drinks selection is unimaginative, this place goes to show that looks can be deceiving and I would go back here for a drink if passing.

Fullers pub just outside Hounslow. When we went in on Friday night, the place was mostly populated by locals. At first we thought the place was empty, but most people were in the lounge to the rear. A friendly enough welcome.

My favourite pub in the area with good beer, excellent food, and a pleasant atmosphere. Could do with resurrecting the pub quiz, mainly because I usually used to win it! Quiet during the week, noisier at weekends when the jukebox is cranked up; avoid Fridays if, like me, you can't stand middle-of-the-road crap like Will Young, Abba, and songs from Grease! Worth a visit.

Had a superb drink there this afternoon. This understated pub is going from strength to strength. Pride was excellent. Food smelt delicious, although I didn't have any. Shame Tottenham lost.
Broncobob - 27 Jan 2008 19:15
The pub's currently undergoing a refurb while staying open which may account for the "crap atmosphere".
Normally the beer is very good. So, Anonymous, you muts have gone at a bad time. Give it a couple of weeks to get finished, come back and ten give it a review.

And for service with a smile just "accidentally" stroke Cassie's hand while she's giving you your change.

The best pride in Hounslow, put that with a very reasonably priced ruby. Why go anywhere else?
This pub must be the best one in Hounslow, which ain't difficult, considering their competition.

Ive lived in Hounslow for 4 years and if I want a quick drink of an evening this is the place I choose. Not the closest pub to where I live, but I will walk the extra minutes to get there, as it really is a nice pub. I too am shocked that it is not busier; there arent many cask marque pubs in Hounslow that I know of! Maybe there is one tucked away where all the ale lovers have hidden themselves, or maybe there arent that many ale lovers in Hounslow!?

The cross Lances is my new local, after visiting many pubs in hounslow over the years ive never paid this pub a visit but was glad i did last month. The pride was top quality and the bar staff member Cassy was very polite, I now drink in this pub most sundays when the atmosphere is excellant.
Old boys playing cards and other bar member kev has a group of well behaved young lads back from football createing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where these people and the rest of the locals are talkative and always making you feel welcome, The chef introduced himself and made sure i was happy with my roast which was perfect and cleared up plates as soon as i had finished so the table was not left short of space. In all the Cross Lances team of staff and group of regulars will keep this pub known as the best in hounslow for a while. Well done to all at the Cross Lances.

WHAT A RELIEF.after visiting my old local the sun to find its been turned into a tacky cross of an old joe lyons tea shop & a come dancing venue selling flat beer, staff more bothered chatting to themselves,to find a professionaly run pub with a good community spirit, amazing food, beer good, but a bit dear(you can,t win em all)we felt like we belonged immediately,CHEERS TO THE LANCES.

As a female the Cross Lances is one of the few pubs that I will go into on my own. I find the regulars a good crowd and the pub itself is clean welcoming and feels a very safe place.

My work mates and I have had a few gatherings in the pub and all of which have been well staffed and ended up being very good nights out.

The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and professional - I would suggest this pub to anyone!

What a fab pub! I have been drinking there for many years now and have seen some changes, however the new management are excellent. I great food menu has been introduced, the garden and pub as a whole has been spruced up and the people that drink in there are some of the best around.
Very friendly, good juke box, good pool area, staff are wonderful and good beer - what else could you want?
I cannot stress to you how good this pub is!
yesnow - 24 Jun 2007 17:15
As others have said, it's not a bad pub at all given the area it's in. The beer is good and it has a friendly atmosphere
malo66 - 15 Mar 2007 18:20
The pub itself has two sections to it, a saloon bar with big screen tv and an itbox, the other section is a public bar with Darts Pool and fruit machines.
A lovely pub with good full plates of food, good prices and selections of drinks.
Bar staff excellant service and very polite.
Juke box with 2million tracks. Perfect.
thefruitbat - 3 Jan 2007 19:13
This pub used to really put me off because it (the carpet perhaps?) smelt a bit stale. It seems to have got better, and for the area it's in, it's a decent enough Fullers pub. I wouldn't have said it was worth a journey just to visit this pub, but if you're in the area, you could do worse.
CaptainHook - 2 Jan 2007 14:07
his pub was taken over in April 2006 by a lovely couple (Andy and Dace) and their son george. They do typical english food with good proportion of it being home made.

They have a good darts and pool area, and a lovely resturant area.

The food they sell on sundays is great value and quality. Their sunday roasts are served on big plates with 2 or 3 slices of Lamb, beef or Chicken with home made roast potato's, cabbage, peas and home made yourshire pudding. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!

They are also hold a great party with a 40th I attended last saturday. Had a DJ and about 60 other people. Great Attmoshere and great polite bar staff!

All round a nice pub in not the best of areas, but best i found in a long time!

Fine pub, the best bet in Hounslow.

Seeing the strong food trade - traditional Sunday roast - makes you wonder why so many Fullers pubs go down the Thai food route.

A classic example of how a pub can be extended - the food area is relatively new and the pub used to be a lot smaller than it is now - without spoiling its traditional atmosphere and appeal to the locals

I spend most of my time in this pub! Excellent beer, friendly staff, and lots of things going on. Mostly local, but everyone is welcome, and you don't get that 'freeze' when you walk in for the first time/
Kollantai - 19 Mar 2005 20:30
A thoroughly good pub, with friendly staff, who remember your round and provide decent pub grub. Clientele is made up largely of people who live locally, but there's no sense of "This is a local shop for local people" about it. Live music is usually of high quality and always great fun. Also does Pub Quiz on Thursday, which can get quite competitive in a gentlemanly sort of way. Has taken the place of the sadly missed Earl Russell

Too smokey, but a decent pint of pride. No Alfie's ..lovely.

Lovely pub, everybody welcome. Great for food, more often than not there will be music there on a Friday night, and in the summer, the garden is a great place to sit. Fine selection of beers, wines and spirits. Staff are wonderful and make you feel as if the Cross Lances is your second home. It has many regulars who all get on very well with the owners. For those of you who haven't been there in a while, it has recently had a beautiful extension built which is now an eating area. If it's music you want to see then make sure you see "Alvin does Elvis" or "Duplicity". Both are amazing. Pool table is situated round the front of the pub. The Cross Lances - a rose between two thorns.
