What murgatroyd said.

It could be a decent traditional pub but it does have a confused identity. Also a little expensive.

Looks like a traditional pub from the outside but the red interior walls make you half expect strippers to appear with pint glasses for collecting pound coins.

It's not that sort of place though but the times I have been there make me wonder what sort of place it is trying to be. Ok for a swift one or two after work but there are better pubs in the area.

This is a foody place. No Real Ale. 6.80 for a pint of Amstel & a Guinness. Food looks and sounds nice but is expensive. Must say the toilets were clean. I quite liked the decor. Might go again and try the food. But not a pub to drink in.

Badly decorated, filthy, loud and expensive.

This pathetic excuse for a pub is the worst sh*t hole I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. There is no floor covering just raw concrete and the place is falling apart. Even worse are the people its wall to wall mugs, all thinking that they are something special but so stupid they cant see the state of the dilapidated room they spend their evenings and lunch times in. I recommend avoiding this cock fest and spending your hard earned money somewhere that looks after customers and attracts a decent crowd. You have been warned avoid at all costs.

Let me start by saying what an utter disgrace to this planet!! A disaster area that needs to be torn down just like its wallpaper. I have been to many pubs in my time none of which have the odour of disgust and shite on its carpetless floor, Never before have I been to a place resembling something in the Amityville horror house. I have been to better and cleaner sewers with cleaner air than this useless, worthless pit full of Aston Carter mugs that worship its very existance.

Step into hell my friends

OK pub its not to far for me to venture to after work or at lunchtime. It has indeed had a refit but its still not to poncey. Good selection of lagers aswell. Can get busy at lunchtime but overall its a not bad wee pub.

I spent too long working in this area, and at least The Windmill offered some sanctuary from the braying chinless wonders and charmless barrow boys of the city.
Suggest if you can't handle a real pub then stick to the All Bar One's and the other McDonalds-style cafe-bars of this locale.
I would award 7, but they gain an extra point for authenticity.

It reopened today, refitted as an Italian wine bar - looks a lot more airy with refitted loos, couches and a chez longue.

Please be advised that this unnecessarily loathsome pub closed its doors for the last time on 9th February 2006, i.e. it is shut. As Thatcher once said, "Rejoice at that news!".
Its former patrons now sit outsidee on invisible chairs, necking tinnies from the cash&carry.

Who the heck are these people claiming not to be me? Anyway, its not too bad, its close to work, has cheap food ( I once got a free caterpillar!) & beer prices are ok.
the_real_andrew_arkless - 29 Sep 2005 10:58
Allegedly, I was overcharged for beer and when the barman was told he said that he knew, laughed and refused to do anything about it. Allegedly, this pub is rank and is run by scoundrels.

if your ever unsure as to quite where the square mile ends and the outside world begins,..pubs like this are a useful barometer,...no armani suited back office half monkeys in here,.hence..outside the square mile,...decent

solid boozer, this one. great for when you just wanna go solo. plus no one from my work would be seen dead in here, which makes it a safehouse. also does food if that's what w anks your crank.

Well I'll have to agree with the first comment on this occasion.
Late opening, no food when they did. Cold, dank, surly atmosphere.
I actually left without a drink!!
I say bring back the tattoo girl!!!
Also_Not_Andrew_Arkless - 18 Mar 2005 15:28
The previous comment is outrageous! Bar staff are not surly. It isn't cold. The radiators are always full on and belting it out. The food isn't rubbish. The bitter is not poorly kept. Who is this Arkless fellow?
Not_Andrew_Arkless - 20 Dec 2004 13:52
Used to be good, but appears to be winding down for a takeover/refurb. Staff open-up when they feel like it and can be pretty obnoxious. I'd avoid it!
