user reviews of Bia Hoi, Sheffield

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Bia Hoi has been subject to numerous changes of name and has had various refurbs but luckily for me and my CAMRA chums I would now classify it has a real ale paradise, a welcome addition to the Sheffeld scene. Its now open all day and a beer terrace has been installed on the roof, perfect for the summer (although not ideal right now!!). 3 unusual guests were on offer on my latest visit, but I selected the always reliable Barnsley Bitter which I quaffed within 15 minutes before heading for a Subway. Yum.

Found myself in Bia Hoi, lost, confused and baffled last week. Anyway, I recall enjoying a Becks Vier, which was in decent condition (haha). The place was completely empty and the only plus was the barman elected to serve us (it was well after 1am and there were literally 2 customers). The DJ played a few drum and bass tunes for us as well which cheered me up somewhat. I have upgraded my previous rating of 0 to 1.

not as expensive as i thought after reading previous reviews in fact cheaper than revolution. bought a buddha card which suited both me and my fella as got me cheap cocktails and him cheap pints (2 4 6 cocktails and pt stella 1.95) now it's open till 2am at the weekend it offers a welcome alternative to the forum or old house. try the pink russians they're amazing!!

This is the kind of place I only go to if it's someone's birthday. I don't mind 'trendy' bars at all, if they at least make an effort to cater to someone who doesn't drink cocktails. This one, however, makes no such concessions and after a while you find yourself resenting that oversized, tacky Buddha statue that seems to mock you every time you trip to the khazi for paying 3 for a pint of Carlsberg. Give it a miss if you can.

Another horrendous example of a soul-less modern bar. This one is particularly rubbish.

Have been a few times, only had 1 bad experience. Took an age to get served, even though it was relatively quiet. In the end we decided to go elsewhere, but otherwise a decent place with a great range of beer.

The bar staff fancy themselves a bit too much, mind.

Bia Hoi is one of my favourites bars in Sheffield. Excellent choice of drinks, prepared well. Great food too. The decor is very relaxing and diverse to many other bars on west st.

Also worth noting that the cutest bar girl in Sheffield works there.

Right good pub, apart from your wait at the bar, if there's more than three people in and they're ordering cocktails, it can take up to 40 mins to get served. The foods nice during the day, and there's usually good music. The massive budda is ace, he looks like my mate!! : )

expensive, busy and smoky, seating at a premium but nice leather seats if you can find them, not too bad a place overall

Pretty good, though it can get extremely busy and seating is scarce.

Good atmosphere late on, with fit ladies. A bit pricey though, so speak to the bank manager before visiting!

I'll never tire of the Revolution chain.

Genius!
