please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I went in here very early evening and it was pretty boring so I finished my Guinness and left. I passed it later on the way home and heard some music so I decided to have another look. I wished I hadnt bothered as it was so loud I couldnt hear myself think and when I tried to escape to the seating out the front I was informed by one of the bouncers that no drinks were permitted to leave the building.

If you are a pretentious twenty something out for a night of being jostled from pillar to post whilst waiting an inordinate amount of time sweating at the bar, youll love it here on a weekend night.

I wouldnt go back in here if I was paid.

Pointlessly aspirational.

If Heat magazine did pubs in Zone 3 of London, they would look like this.

Now renamed "Villiers Terrace" - a licenced restaurant catering for the Crouch End three wheeled buggie (with disk brakes) brigade

Oh dear another good Old style traditional Pub has been wreaked and turned into a another glorified licenced Restaurant. Soon there will only be The Royal Oak Pub left round here.

Under Refurb at the Moment. Be interested to see what they do with it.

'lookmother' is right. Its a great pub, but too many times I've encountered a surfeit of kids here. One visit saw a toddler escape and attempt to become a DJ, while one afternoon I found more children than adults in residence.

Great pub in many, many ways. The staff are very very friendly and the pub grub is great (especially the steak and mushroom pie).

BUT there's two big downsides to the place:

1. Music volume - I'm pretty sure that about half of the pub doesn't have any speakers - as a result the music is hideously loud in some parts of the pub to make up for the lack of speakers elsewhere. I've had many an evening ruined by having to scream at people sat two yards away from me. Also, when a pub is near on empty, having German showtunes blaring out at 1000 decibels is just going to force out the people already in there - not attract passerbys!

2. Nowt they can really do about this, but the place often turns into a creche on Saturday and Sundays. Personally, I can think of better places to hold a 3 year old's birthday party than a smoky pub but there you go...

Apart from that it's grand. I suppose you should go on a weeknight and WATCH OUT FOR SPEAKER!

Had a great Evening here last month, some good food a lovely pint of guiness.
Then to my surprise they had a great comedy night which starts at around 8.30pm firsts tuesday of the month, and was one of the best comedy nights i have been to in a while. It also does music on a friday, which i am yet to expierience, if your a comedy Fan this is a must, a good selection of well-known and less well-known comics.

The Princess Alexandra was transformed in Autumn 2006. And what a transformation! It's still a 'local' pub, but rather than being the place you headed to when everywhere else has closed, it's now the best place in Crouch End to meet at the start of the evening (and you'll probably stay there).

The food is fabulous, and the menu changes regularly. There's a real fire, conservatory and garden.

Get there early on a Friday (live music) if you want a seat.

Nice selection of beers, very busy on a friday night.
Live music starting again every friday night now too.Don't know what the foods like though

Good selection of ales, cosy locals pub with no music, etc. The barmaid was a tad on the slow side but all in all a pleasant experience.

This is simply the best "proper" pub in the area, its like that place on the yorkshire moors in an american werewolf in london, a locals pub in the middle of mediocrity, but the beer is excellent the live bands when they have them first class, and a big screen for the football, a great beer garden - if a bit windy at times - and the most entertaining landlord around (if you get him on a good day!)

Not a bad pub and seems to serve until 12, which is a boon on a Saturday night when everywhere else is closing.

I did see a mouse in there, which made me scream in an attention-grabbing fashion. This was the same night I saw Minty from Eastenders. I think his was one of the attentions I grabbed :-/

Just horrible.

Full of old drunks. Terrible decor and probably the most expensive pub in Criuch End.

Walking in was like walking in a time-warp. And it wasn't a pleasant time-warp!

Very nice Thai food and a good garden for summers evenings.

Not a bad pub, nice garden, but not an atmosphere to write home about, but did see Minty from Eastenders in it.

Great pub for summer as it has a sunny garden out back.
