What to say about this place?? Is it a towny pub trying to aim itself at a younger crowd or is it a pub for people who like their beer? It really couldn't seem to make it's mind up. Nice to have had a Hoegaarden Forbidden Fruits for the first time in years, but didn't like the pricetag either. All-in-all, I didn't like it.

In here last Saturday lunch time and a fair few in also.
All wood interior with soft padding on the seats.
Piped music playing but not too loud.
More of a food place realy and its not cheap, starters are "from £5.50"
Just the two hand pulls for Rebelion IPA & Smuggler. I had a pint of the later for £3.50 which was ok.

amazing building, really a wonderfull sight form the outside. inside is noce too, but the bar area does feel a little bit too foody to be a proper pub.

plenty of good beers, including the rebellion brewery. seems to be a focus on decent pilsners and german lager style beers, which is nice.

food is really very good. all steaks are brought out raw and on a hot stone so you cook them to your own liking.

prices are a bit much , but if you can spare the extra 50p on each pint its definatly a nice place to kill some time in.

Fantastic building being over 650 years old.
Decent beer but expensive at 3:60 pint for Rebellion IPA - which was nicely kept.

nice pub and everything else. but when i was there a man who looked to be the owner was yelling at the young girl behind the bar. which i thought was disgusting. i hope he wasnt like that all the time. i have been to the birdcage a few times on a friday night it was fun busy. but after i saw that man almost abusing the young girl i doubt i will go back.

A little bit pricey and slightly pretentious, but the food portions were quite generous. A couple of real ales on, fairly average but OK, some reasonably interesting bottled beers available including a lovely Australian Coopers Dark Stout.

Wonderful pub, only let down by the small 'bar service area' which definately needs relocated to offer a longer bar-top.

Back under the watchful eye and stewardship of the landlord, the Birdcage has become a better place to eat and drink in again. Perfect on the rare occasion that the sun is out to sit outside and watch the world go by. Great selection of Continental/World beers. Recently introduced the 'Black Rock experience' with exotic meats from Africa. Believe that they have another pub in High Wycombe, shall go on a fact-finding mission!

glad the real manager is back and gotten rid of that rude aussie guy. food is consistently good there and the wine is always good value by the bottle. just taken on some round the world beers too which bring back memories of travelling.

its a pity the staff are so rude. Wine was corked and the sausages i wanted were not in stock

Not kid friendly, Watched a delivery man deliver a pile of frozen food while i tucked into my dinner- Wasnt impressed at all. Rude Australian guy behind bar covered in tattoos. No help bringing in the wheelchair as we could be seen clearly struggling.
Let down with the all the Hype about the Birdcage as friends told me it had changed. Needs to get back to basics with staff and put the customer first!

Recently refurbed (2005) it is now a modern bar with an 'old' feel. Bar can be a bit cramped when its busy but other than that, a great place with seating outside. Good beers too !

Great Pub.

Used to be the 'rough' pub of Thame but is now the best place to go. Often open late at the weekend (0000-0100) with no admission charge or loud music, just normal honest drinking!! Great pub.

What a fantastic pub! Tremendous ambiance in this 700-year-old building, the staff are without exception warm, friendly and welcoming, the ales varied, and the Sausage Kingdom just unbelievable.

The only drawback is that it can get a little smokey, but still scores 9/10 in my book.
