Royal Oak, Bramptonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Well worth a visit on the way into town, which seemed to be what the bulk of the punters were doing. 4 or 5 handpulls, but selection can vary between the two bars, so worth checking both sides before buying. TT landlord was on good form.

Two bar urban local on the outskirts of Chesterfield. The bar had a pool table and TV and seemed quite noisy. We sat in the lounge, which was a little more comfortable. 5 ales were on - Stones Bitter, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Batemans Rosey Nosey, Thornbridge Jaipur & Brampton Golden Bud. I wasn't particularly impressed. But the pub was a slight improvement on the Grouse a little further up Chatsworth Road.

I think that kev bloom calls this one about right. I have seen a few bands here and had a few games of pool too, always been good.

I picked this pub at random when I had an hour to kill before a cricket match at Queen's Park and I certainly made the right choice. Spacious yet cosy with plenty of quiet corners, nine ales on handpump, friendly atmosphere. I also caught the end of a live jazz session when returning after the match for a quick pint befroe the train journey home.
