Think it is just OK - ale not exceptional and often quite bland - had Fraoch on when I was there and not all that.

Not my favourite bar. It is an international student venue throughout the year and packed almost every time. The ventilation is not good too. Apart from that students seem to like it, and it even has live bands from time to time

Everyone should go here once. Just so you can work out if its a fire hazard or not! Recommended for the range of human existence that frequent.

This was once a great pub , and while it still has the same grungey ambience , its criminally expensive for what it is .

A faded shadow of its former self. Can they cram in any more Guinness promotional tat? Very disappointing.

Liked this pub a lot.Good atmosphere, great music from some of the better bands from years ago(eg Wasted Life-Stiff Little Fingers).stripped down flagstoned bar with a small music venue attached. The 80/- was 2.70 which is slightly above the Edinburgh norm-but its a good pint.worth a visit...

I visited Bannermans on a work trip to Edinburgh and it rocks! By pure coincidence I was there when William Mysterious was playing acoustic and singing on an open mic night - WM being one of my biggest bass playing heroes EVER! Got to shake his hand and tell him that the bass on the Rezillos album is like a train coming through the wall - which it is. Top man. Top bar. Good luck both of you.

Good for bands although gets a little on the hot and swaety side if there's a crowd in, so I'd recommend not wearing a jumper (even in winter!) bit expensive but barstaff friendly especially that big guy, Davey I think his name is.

The best pub by far in edinburgh. live music from up and coming bands 6 nights a week, the BEST bar staff ever (so friendly), comfy couches and a great looking bar. Drinks promos - the best place for a rainy evening!
