Closed again at moment. Shame in such a prominent position opposite University.

I remember the Zetland from my student days at Hudds Uni back in the 1990's. Back then, under the Zetland name, it was good drinking establishment.

Has recently been turned into a 'bar and kitchen' called Dogma. A shame.

Nice pub, no-frills, good quiz. Cheap.

Landlord and Everards Yule Fuel (1.99), in good condition, but the bar staff are not all well trained how to pour a pint. Both Sky and Setanta on multiple screens. Food looks good value and seems popular (Sunday lunch 4.99 inc a drink).

Now back to it's original name of Zetland - it's ok but that's about it.

Had no real ales on by 8pm on a Friday night

In its new guise, it now has real ales on again, Tetleys and Landlord, and it was in good form. Also has food and Sky sports.

O'Neills was cracking! What more can you say, however now the pub has returned to it's original name & also atmostphere. The O'Neills days are gone (& went, to be honest, a few years ago), it lost it when the live bands became no more. I always feel welcome in the Zetland & Chris and the team have turned this pub back into what it should be!

If you would like a "Dublin lifestyle experience" find a O'Neills (there's one in Leeds), if you want a cracking local in a town centre go to the Zetland.

Just thought that it would be appropriate to bid a fond farewell to a dear friend, "O Neills", after many years of honoured service to the community.

After the sad news that Mitchells and Butlers has decided to rebrand this noble institution after zero consultation with the local customer base, who have frequented it's hallowed doors over the ages.

Through the regeneration of staff and management, spanning two decades, with eternal smiles on their faces and songs in their heart, they have proudly and gallantly stood, shoulder to shoulder, alongside this decorated soldier and veteran, who has quietly and honourably united both town and gown in it's active service for all the community, black or white, straight or gay, rich or poor, town or gown

A Record of Service that will eternally be remembered and cherished in our hearts and conversations for Generations

An aloof and conspiring tragedy on the part of the Regional managment/Brewery that they should perniciously dangle the sword of damacles over the head of this giant of parochial establishments

However, In Conclusion, it leaves me to wish it's new Manager every success in the "Zetland" that it is to become at the end of July.

I noted with sadness on the last few nights of O Neills, the desire to cash in on the final precious moments of the place with no true understanding of what was taking place or an acceptance of what O Neill's was all about, as a resting place for a weary traveller and Cead Mile Failte to the homesick Irish Sons and Daughters who had come across the sea and found the precious And priceless Irish Homeley welcome to make them feel at home.

The grotesque trading of the artefacts of Ireland could have been likened to a meat market on memories. i felt that this totally missed the point.

The whole point of O Neills was not simply the place, the bricks and mortar or the pictures, but the people, most notably, the staff who richly deserve the splendour of adulation for the creation of a fine institution

I would wish to extend my best regards to the new Manager and to place on notice my solemn hope that the transition from O Neills to Zetland should be as gradual and consensual as possible, after listening to the views of the "Wise Counsellors" in the form of the Senior Staff who will continue their journey from O Neills to the Zetland, never discount their opinions and never undermine their hardwork and endeavour, as through them the Spirit and Values of O Neills will carry forward to another generation

The Wise Counsellors or the "A Team" as i like to call them can be congratulated on a job well done and commended for all they have done and a Big Thank You goes out all, each and everyone of them on behalf of everyone who has frequented O Neills and been made to feel welcome by them

God Bless you folks and see you all Soon
