£4.30 a pint. I''m not surprised pubs are closing down. Disappointed. Cut it to £3.50 for an ale and I may return.

I made the mistake of coming here again, full of tossers, especially in the beer garden why cant people have their beer in peace? At £4.40 I wasted time and money and liver space here. Shocking!

Big is entitled to his opinion. Yours - ''some nice ales and it''s clean!''

Some catching up to do! I went here on Sunday and had the cheese and tomato panini, on Monday I had the veggie Texan Burger and today I opted for the Lasagne! I had a pint of real ale on each occasion! You can even sit by the windows and watch the traffic and people walking past.

Today I went to Wetherspoons in Guildford and had fish and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce. I Even had a pint of Abbot Ale to spice things up. You can sit at one of the many tables in this big pub.

Today I went to Wetherspoons in Guildford and had a vegetable curry. I also had a pint of American IPA and sat at a table and you can even watch people walking past outside.

It hasn’t closed, it’s very much alive. Just a change of ownership.

Same manager, same great staff, same great decor, same great chef and same good food just a release on the reigns maybe?

Update:

Change of ownership!

Manageress says they are now sourcing local real ales.

Totally agree with the last post - but one.

Excellent country pub, food great.

If you dislike their beverages, go elsewhere - to the last poster¡

Reviews by BITE users:

Until relatively recently, there were five pubs in the centre of Redhill - now there are two; and the Sun trades for 4 hours before its sole competitor even opens - and well after it closes!

Not just a pub - it serves breakfasts, morning coffees, lunches, afternoon teas, dinner etc. And it's busy throughout the day - with locals and shoppers (a massive new Sainsbury's is just opposite).

Food and beer are of good quality and the place is well run. Six nations rugby will be shown - as are other major sporting events. In this area - there is no busier pub/restaurant.

Pleasant Wetherspoons adjacent to large supermarket and town centre shops - with a betting shop next door. Redhill has excellent transport links and this pub is busy all day - with only one other pub in the town centre. Food and beer are good, and the staff friendly and efficient. Perhaps the busiest pub in east Surrey.

My last post is incorrect. There was no stabbing at the Sun - sorry.

A more organised and dare we say grand, reopening event is being scheduled for Saturday 7th October! For those yet to come and enjoy what this revived local pub has to offer, do come and give it your onceover. Lots of fellow sociable drinkers have already, and seem not to be disappointed! Final event details still TBA, but be assured that there''ll be plenty to get stuck into.

Well, I shan''t seek to dispute what you say as there is some truth in it of course for many people. But that doesn''t mean a bright, friendly local boozer is entirely irrelevant, and so far the feedback received has been positive, and trade has been pretty steady too, despite our still nascent offering.

Thanks for the good wishes, and if ever you feel like an evening of old-fashioned simple enjoyment free of the tedium of stuff like supermarkets and Wetherspoon''s (in particular, The Sun), then you shall always be welcome in the Gari.

Called in since the reopening - bright, friendly , old local. But life moves on - time has taken over.

Most don''t want a chat with a regular; too busy for that. 4/5 pubs within half a mile have closed.

Bus conductors have gone - like chimney sweeps, farriers, phone boxes, wimpey bars, corner shops, many bus routes and lifestyles.

Now we relate differently - and use supermarkets and Wetherspoons. Godd luck though.

I was going to play pool but some chavs were having a game! Typical! However the pub was nice and quiet on a late August Saturday. The only downside was the lack of real ale. Why are they selling 4% beers instead of Old Speckled Hen or Abbot ale? As usual Jeff Stelling was ranting and raving on Soccer Saturday.

It is big and spacious unlike some pubs. Can't really fault but it does attract a slightly rough crowd and is a by a busy road. Good choice of ales.
12 Aug 2017 20:40
Well, I went here today and couldn't even get in a game of Pool. Some chavs were hogging the tables. So I guess there was beer, yes one real ale so lets go with the Old speckled Hen! And then I could watch Jeff Stelling reading out the football scores and then I left. Thats what life is like when you drink in a pub on your own!
