Reasonable drink. A rock bar which is a bit of a dive. Ciders are Strongbow and Old Rosie (from the box).

There are many worse in Durham.

Best beer garden in Durham with good views over to viaduct. Good and dynamic range of beers, excellent jukebox though the live music is on the loud side!

Visited back in May with friends & found this little gem of a pub thanks to this website. The four of us spent the best part of friday afternoon in there & had a wonderful time. Good priced beer & friendly staff (even to us Yorkshire folk)
Yes its a rock pub & yes its got a bit of graffiti in the beer garden, but this makes the place & gives it charicter, There is no other pub in Durham like the angel so if you dont tr it yo'l miss out.

Dark, mildly-goth, bit of a rock pub - if you're from London, think village-y Intrepid Fox.
A bit of a live music/rock music pub, with Setanta Sports!

If you're a portly, middle-aged, single, long-haired, and wear a black t-shirt with a metal band on it and denim jeans and jacket, then get yourself in there, you'll love it ! Or if you're a lady looking for such a eligible fellow, get yourself to this pub now, and take one (or maybe more!) home for the night!

If it's live music with a mild harmess edge, and no-grannies, go there.

(p.s. if you'r not looking for any of the above, please avoid - go across the street to Ye Ole Elm Tree - also Crossgate)

The Angel's recently had a lick of paint and the toilets have now got a suit of armour. But it's still the same old Angel. It's now got 3 plasma tellys and you can get a tasty toasty too. One thing I did notice yesterday though was that you now only get 4 songs for your quid on the jukebox!! Robbing bastards(!)
New pool table and it's got its music licence back on a thursday night too!!
Still my favourite pub in the whole wide world though!
