| I really liked this pub. We arrived shortly before the pub was due to close for the afternoon, which may explain why the one barmaid (possibly the landlady) chose to blank us. Luckily another barmaid after if she could help. But I didn't need help (some may argue otherwise)! I just wanted a drink. Ales were Butcombe Adam Henson's Rare Breed, Fuller's London Pride & Hopback Crop Circle. The cider was Harry's Medium Farmhouse. I'll give a 7/10. | We pulled into the Little Chuff car park on the A303, and like amadcitrus, we saw the sign. It is a real out of the way pub, which welcomes dogs. They sell packets of designer dog biscuits at the bar. All that aside, I had an excellent pint of Sheep Dip, and my wife enjoyed her spritzer, with our equally excellent ploughman�s. | Our coach stopped here mid afternoon on a beautiful afternoon in early July following a successful tour of the Sixpenny Brewery in Sixpenny Handley, Dorset (thanks Scott!). Wonderful views southwards towards the Blackmore Vale. Guest ales included the DBC Durdle Dor and Palmers Copper Ale. I'm afraid I disagree with wickedcider's comment (04Jun2007) about Strongbow being a 'known cider' ..... fizzy apple juice perhaps but certainly NOT a cider in the real sense of the word. | With a car full on the way to a music festival, this was a very pleasant alternative to the little chef on the A303 that we were going to stop at! Had it not been for the painted sign, directing drivers down the little country road to get there, we wouldn't have known about it. Friendly staff, 3 real ales on (a couple of Palmers ales, can't remember the other) thatchers cheddar valley on tap, the fish and chips is the lunch to go for! delicious batter and much better portions than most of the other meals i could see around us. | Possibly one of the most disappointing meals that we have had for a long time. We were recommended the Fox and Hounds as a good place to eat but it fell well short of expectations. The starter was moderate and lost on a large plate with a lettuce leaf and a quarter of a tomato as a poor excuse for a salad. The duck that we ordered for the main course was over-cooked, gristly and very tough, inedible in fact. The broccoli was hard and hadn't been in water for more than a few minutes. We like al dente but not raw. The overall service was poor and after receiving our mains we did not receive a visit from anyone to see if all was OK. When the barman came to clear an adjoining table I told him about the poor main course and said I would speak again at the end of the meal. I thought that one of the waiting staff was scruffily dressed and with trousers that looked like they needed a wash.
