Always liked this pub on my occasional visits. Popped in on Sunday and they had four ales on and the food looked good too. Unfortunately I didn't get to sample either. I stood at the bar for a while waiting to be served, and it was fairly busy, but I gave up when continually ignored. Three people came to the bar after me (all on first name terms with the staff) and were served straight away whilst I stood waiting. Shame as otherwise it was quite impressive.

The Woolpack changed hands in Summer/Autumn 2013 and I can only say that the reviews below are now out of date! New landlady apparently pushed owners Punch hard on full refurb and her efforts have paid off, the pub's got a really nice cosy, friendly feel to it and couldn't feel less like a 'Punch Tavern'.

Always have four, usually five, cask ales on at anyone time, including Adnams Bitter (permanent), and when I visited Fuller's London Pride, Oakham Citra, Woodforde's Wherry and Sharp's Doom Bar. All beautifully kept by a cellarman who knows his stuff. I've also seen TT Landlord, Adnams Broadside, Crouch Vale Brewer's Gold. Strong regular drinking trade.

Excellent food - I've eaten here two or three times and enjoyed the Woolpack burger and a tasty pork cutlet special, plus great roast beef on a Sunday. Really friendly staff, nothing's too much trouble. Overdue for a BITE reassessment!

Absolutely garbage! Whats going on here? It used to be a great local. Who ever has took over just get lost! Rude staff, rubbish food and when I was last in a ginger pubic hair in someones salad! Gross! I will never ever visit this pub again! Go to the Greyhound, nicer hosts and better service. VERY VERY SADDENED BY NEW OWNERS:(

Very saddened and surprised to see the difference in this fine eatery since last we visited in Jan 2011.
Looks the same but the service and food were absolutely ghastly.
Lazy staff and a very poor standard of cleanliness here now.
I am not a habitual moaner but dirty cutlery, the worst "home-cooked" chips ever and attitude of hosts were diabolical.
Sorry to say it ,but a big NO to this establishment :(

Still a top pub and Dave's food is smashing. 6 cask ales on these days which rocks.
