user reviews of The Ironmarket, Newcastle under Lyme

I think this pub may have been closed for a while. You can tell it was a bland chain pub in its previous incarnation. There were a number of handpulls. But only Cross Bay Nightfall was on. Most of the locals were drinking cans of Carling. We were suspicious of the Nightfall. But it was far better than we'd expected. Doubt I'd come here again, unless passing.

A typical chain pub, with no real atmosphere. Staff great, but beer just ok.

closed for two weeks for refurbishment. On opening the only difference was that the beer range was even less. now only fizz or guinness available on a Saturday night. Crap pub all round...they haven't even painted the bannisters - just changed the sign. What a waste.

They need to sort out the clientele - people were throwing empty bottles last time I visited.

Beer range often limited, and frequently poor quality.

As a real ale drinker, its one of the few pubs where I frequently drink larger.

Food service unreasonably slow.

Seems to have a rapid staff/management turn over there is still hope for the pub.
