I would echo everything that the last reviewer "southfields" said about the staff and the beer. Food is fairly standard chain pub fare but was fine. Toilet seat was disgusting and windows needed a lick of paint but we didn't think that it justified a complaint given the friendly welcome we had received all weekend.

Well run and friendly pub cum restaurant. Ales included Ringwood Best, Abbott and Speckled Hen. All well kept. Food pretty standard but served by motivated and smiling young staff. The conference rooms means that it is used by corporate groups...which accounts for the full car park. Accommodation very nice..large clean room overlooking woodland.

Having been let down we decided to try this pub as we had not been there for 15 years for a Sunday lunch, and I wanted to see if they still had the wall drawings and signatures of the service personel who were stationed nearby during the war, They still have them.
What a difference to last visit, very friendly greeting. Very clean, with a good menu at very reasonable prices.
There are specials on certain days and also special "Senior " meals. After 5pm Sunday 2for 1 carvery.
We settled on the carvery Pork Beef & turkey all piping hot served on HOT plates, usual vegatables as much as wanted.
Service was fast in spite of busy bar, staff extremely efficient , nothing too much trouble. Good selection of drinks
I can thoroughly recomend a vist here, we shall be revisiting soon.
One thing I always check before eating is the state of the toilets-- very good here.

During September I and a group of friends were staying a couple of nights at the Travel Lodge on the opposite side of the A31. There werent any options if we wished to avoid drinking and driving so drank and ate hear for the two nights. Although late in the season it was popular with travel groups and necessary to book a table. Three or more cask ales were on tap and the food pretty fair, served by friendly staff. Not bad considering the location.

Visited this venue for a Saturday lunchtime family meal . There were about 16 of us and so they asked us to pre order which we did ....a month in advance.

This is not a venue that you would choose for a casual /relaxing drink . The real ale is OK but is on the verge of being as cold as a lager ..and unfortunately the bar staff are not from countries that have real ale so it is difficult to get the message across . I don't wish to appear picky but they are charging top dollar for badly served drinks .

The food was the real let down . My salmon starter had a quarter of a slice of toasted bread which they had managed to burn to completely black . The soup was nice according to people that had it but again a serious bread shortage, requests to staff did not remedy this. Luckily one of our group had been to the shops earlier and had a Deli France stick which was shared out .
From our pre ordered meals they completely forgot one main course. After having to go to the bar to point this out to staff they then managed after 10 minutes to serve the missing meal half cooked . Once again a trip to the bar to summon staff , the meal was replaced 5 minutes later with what was supposed to a grilled salmon steak that had just been micro-waved , the plate was glowing ......very poor. It was not overly busy ...good luck over the festive period !!

The food that did turn up should be described as average . This is a venue with all of the atmosphere of a doctors waiting room ...

Overall opinion .... do yourself a favour and choose a venue a little less plastic and with a little more idea how food and drink should be presented .
