| This pub is stuck in a real 70�s time warp. Everything about it seems old fashioned, the dated d�cor with red velvet bench seating, the bar counter, the fireplace, the large collection of teapots, the choice of drinks at the bar (Tetley beer, Carling lager, Stowell�s Liebfraumilch), even the local photo�s on the wall. One of them shows a train going over the viaduct that runs behind the pub, and I would guess the trains probably were still running over it when the picture was hung there. The only thing that looks as though it�s changed in the last 20 years is that someone has stuffed the extractor fan full of carrier bags now that it no longer has clouds of smoke to get rid of. There�s a reasonable size beer garden at the back of the pub, with a good view of the viaduct, and the river runs alongside. The pub itself is a single room affair with a segregated dining area, although the menu was very basic �pub grub� and it�s not really the sort of place I�d particularly expect to see anyone eating. It seems like a bit of a local�s pub, and a couple of them were using rather colourful language on occasions. The landlord seemed pretty miserable. Maybe he only likes serving his locals.
