| This is now known as The Maltings. I've not been in since it had the name change, but went in at the beginning of summer for a quiet read on a Sunday afternoon. My intention was thwarted by a handful of Chelsea supporters good naturedly watching the footie on the telly. I went out the front where the beer patio is, but it was in the shade, so I ended up leaning on a traffic bollard to get a bit of sun, with book in hand and pint in the other. | After a visit to the Rose & Crown (a McMullens pub just up the road), our penultimate pub of the day was the Worppell. It's a Greene King pub on a local roundabout. The interior was nice enough. | This place has been in the GBG so a bit disapointed with the beer selection when I paid a visit last Saturday afternoon. It is very cosy and they have a dart board. 2 plasma TV's were showing the Huddersfield v Sheffield Wednesday footy. 3 hand pulls for GK IPA and Abbott and the dreded Doom Bar. | Located in a good traffic junction and looking like a good old fashioned pub from the outside. But on entering what a shock. It looked like a Daily Mail Ideal Home pub on the corner. A Swedish pine forest was stuck to the walls, the seating was spanking new and had the layout for remand prisoners to meet family on visitors day, not helped by the lighting being so bright. I soon realised it was a Hollywood version of an English pub. On the plus side the barman/owner was cheerful and the beer Abbots was fine but very pricey at £3.80 a pint. I expect that bat the wine bar on the High Street. Otherwise it was flaming Green King IPA. Luckily a text arrived and I headed off to The Albion where 3 pints cost a tenner.
